another cfl grow

i'm going next week, i hope, to get the happy frog. this and maybe the next summer grows are going to be the last planned in soil i hope. i'm starting to collect a few parts for a home made dwc system, put it is not set in stone. i know there is going to be a learning curve to it, i just hope i catch on quick.

You should try building your own soil mix. You might just like the results.

i didn't do pics today, let's just say, i got stoned and i missed it. hope to have some tomorrow. we are having rain and 55º @ 6:44 pm, and by midnight we are supposed to have freezing rain then snow by tomorrow morning. tomorrows low is 7º, and the high is 22º , sounds like i may not be working tomorrow. i drive a company truck, and if the roads are closed, it doesn't move. peace

been doing some reading, but i still have more to do. i have to read things a couple times before it sinks in. how often do you change the water, or do you just keep adding? i haven't looked real hard for a meter yet, but i'm trying to plan a trip to the hydro shop. did have some cash stuck back, but the wife's car jumped time, so i don't have no mo rat hole.

Nahhh, easy bud. As long as you have a ppm meter youll do great. No worries :):):)

no snow, clear roads, temps around 14º now, 20º today. tonight is going to be 6º and gonna start creeping back up again. pics today. peace

You can make a DWC for under 30bucks.Its the meters and nutes thats expensive.
Main thing is water temp, keep it under 70-75f or ISSUES with root rot.
Not that big of a learning curve I suggest GH nutes and the Lucas method, for your 1st GO.
Beech

lucas method? one i must have missed, i'll try to find it. yeah dwc is what i'll end up trying, but i like the rdwc too.

they need a good watering, but i was afraid to with it being so cold. around here if the wind blows the power goes off. so they will get a good watering tomorrow. looks like i might have gave a little to much food on the last watering too, i think the next two will be just water. i think i'll top them too.

Throw a couple more splitters in your box, and add a couple incandescant bulbs for some heat, or a heat lamp bulb.

i have been leaving the door open yesterday and again this morning. temp in the building this morning was 50º, and with the sunlight through the windows, the space heater, and the 266 watts of cfl's it should be in the 70's when i get home. i got to add more light in the next couple of days.

i finished my flood light frame, and got 5 of the sockets mounted. i got to get 8 more sockets, then it is on with the floods. should have better light control with them. i'll roll the 4 t5 55 watt cfl's to the side for side lights. then i got another 8-23 watt lights for placement lights. that will give me 299 watts over head and 220 watts for sides without the 8-23 watters.

Did you notice in my older pics that I added a couple of the outdoor porch fixtures and have floods in them?
I find that way I can rotate the angle and stuff, and reduces times moved and re-mounted.

yeah i saw the floods, and i remember you using them before. i'm wanting them for better control of the light, and better coverage. i got 4 55 watt t5's overhead and they are to big to cover right. it leaves a lite spot in the middle. i did put two 23's in the middle but it's not what i like. i believe they would be ok as side lights.

they are starting to perk back up now. we are in the 50's today, maybe 60's tomorrow. what got to them is we had around 60 hours or more down in the 20's for highs and in the singles for the lows. being i'm in a out building i had a time trying to keep them warm. the two specials and the kush did really well. the three pinks had a harder time, but look alot better now. i got a couple of them the end of the leaves (not all of them, just the older) have a twist in the end. don't know if from the cold or what yet.

How are they doing? Is it still cold?
