Another Damn Mold Problem! help!!

So now I guess I know where the mold inside the buds came from.

The bottom of my box had mold in it. RH is always 30-40, but air circulation is so-so but more importantly, there was standing water in bottom of box.

The drain valve in bottom of reservoir became not 100% leak proof. The plants were already too large to remove the reservoir, so I opted to just blot it with a towel best I could but it's a wooden box, so, do the math.

Now I am wondering what to do for next grow. Seeds are already germinated. I am looking at bottom of box and thinking, maybe, scrub with bleach and re-paint it with more mildew/mold resistant paint - and make sure my reservoir doesn't leak again.

Any advice or ideas welcome!!!

after it dryes scrub it with a bleech mix let it dry paint it and then line the box with some heavy black plastic and install a good drain in case you get water standing there again.and I would clean the grow area with a bleech mix also. good luck and grow on

thanks! I did the following:
1. shop vac and dremmel brush to "exfoliate" everything "realllll good".
2. spray EVERYTHING down, again, "realll good", with denatured alcohol.
3. re-coat everything with mildewcide-impregnated paint.
the next step is to tack up the panda film I just bought - all over.

I also improved upon my reservoir drain design a bit - basically sanding the plastic so the sealant can get a good grip - and ditching the silicone caulk for polyurethane adhesive.

Putting a drain in the box isn't a bad idea, either - may opt for that also.

? I might be misunderstanding your equipment. DWC in a wooden container? If so, no matter how coated it is, wood and water = mold. Everytime. Get some plastic buckets I think you would be very satisfied. And exuse me if I am mistaken. Peace. Good luck my friend!

No- plastic tote - wooden grow box for specific (small) dimensions of corner of bedroom closet. The wood got contaminated with reservoir leaking water due to the drain valve I installed on the reservoir.

I dont know what type of drain you installed, but if its a rubber gromet(thats what I use)with a barbed 90 or T dont drill your hole to the size it says on the package, mine said drill an 11/16 hole.so I did and every time I moved the hose just a little it would leak,so I tryed a 5/8 hole and it fits very tight and it no longer leaks. hope this helps you. peace and grow on
