Another "dark period before harvest" question but for about 2 weeks.

So I've Preharvested now I'm waiting for the rest. I am also going to be out of town for a two weeks.

. . .Should i chop the rest before I leave, or turn off the light till i return and then chop.

This sounds interesting. Let them go and note the reaction to such a long dark period, they won't die immediately but i cant tell you what they will do in such an intense situation.

What? I've never done the 72 hour dark period and I'm going out of town for a while so I thought I'd ask. Also FDD your talents stretch farther than "please just stop". I've learned a bit from you. Is the "dark period" prior to harvest a myth?

Preharvest or partial harvest. I define it as harvesting the ripened buds on the plant and let the other buds ripen before you harvest. Usually the tops would be done first followed by the bottom buds and interior.

. . .Someone said "you wouldn't harvest your tomato plant all at once, why would you chop your ganja all at once?" That being said try it for yourself.

What do you think of the dark period idea?

sounds like a good idea to me based on what some other people said above, I have no experience growing but I have read that this kind of stress can produce a lot of thc..could make drying go quicker also :D

yes, extended dark periods prior to harvest to increase weight is a MYTH. this is not how it works.


where is the thread with the side-by-side comparison? if you(any member here) have more than one plant you can test this theory. i see NO documentation(thread) of it anywhere on this site. maybe i just haven't looked in the right place. "this plant had 3 days of dark, this plant stayed on 12/12. note the difference." anyone?

i want your opinion fdd, but im pretty sure i know what it is.lol. alright, i agree it wont add weight but wont it increase thc levels if you give it an extra pediod of dark(or harvesting right before lights on) since it has had the time with no light to break it down?

Staggered harvest is fine, i just never heard it called pre-harvest b4.

fdd, i love your harvesting tutorial and give out the link to it about 10x a day, lol, but you never mentioned if you have any rituals you perform b4 harvest(sacrificing a chicken really seems to help me. lmao) Could you detail what you do the last few weeks leading up to harvest and right before?

nobody has two plants, a camera and the ability to start a thread? yet it's all the rave. :roll:




my plants grow, when they are finished i harvest them. they have a pretty good idea how to do it themselves. i need no "tricks". tricks are for kids.

Adding ice to rez getting to a temp of 0'c, turning lights off for 72 hours shocks the plants into creating more rezin. I chop some before the 72 hour darkness and the results are huge resin wise.

its seems/seemed to work for me,I did do a side by side. lol, its just you got so much more experience than i do so youve had more time to figure it out. I dont have a camera though. I was just wondering if i think the buds are actually stronger that way because they are actually stronger or if im letting my mind play tricks on me from a maybe flawed first impression on the results of my experiment. thanks for the quick reply, I'm gonna try it in about 3 weeks again(the experiment), If i can find a digi camera for cheap i'll post it up here and see if i cant lay to rest wether or not it works.

Its always great to experiment, ive been tweaking my recipe and technique for over 10 years. It still amazing how i find people who still believe in a 3 part formula or how all nute are the same. The only way u find out is do it yourself!

How can u take someones advice if they've never tried it themselves.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.

 SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

Yeah I once quoted this in one of my post but when I tried to find the original info I could not find it, I did find that SIMM exists but absolutely nothing any where on the web about this supposed study (except for a few forum post)
