Another light thread for flower, help me please

Ok, so as I've learned, although my results have been perfectly fine for me personally, apparently I really should upgrade from the crazy multitude of various lights I have running right now. I sort of bought a lot of various lights over time that were cheap because that's all I could afford at the time.

But basically, I'm in a 2x4 space with lots of height for flower. Usually run three plants. It's a closet so heat is a concern although it is air conditioned unless the door is closed which it never really is...

So I'm thinking HLG quantum boards look nice. Ideally I want to spend only around $300 for now, and then another $300 (usd) in a couple of months... I see some Quantum 260 watt pairs for around $300, also HLG 100 for $150, could buy two. Thoughts? Thanks!

I know you said heat is an issue but if it were me I’d do a 300 w hps. I messed around with all thes leds and unless your willing to spend 1500 on a light you will never get the same result as a good old fashioned hps/mh in my opinion.

I'm up for any opinion! I do currently run a combination of 3 crappy LEDs and two 150 watt sunsystem HPS lights...

For $300 you could get a 1000 watt dimmable ballast and HPS.

I did that as well I had three cheap ones and then I got a quantum board and it still wasn’t enough light always had airy buds. Now I use 1000 de hps and it’s the bees knees I couldn’t be happier with this 300 dollar light! I have an extra one if it’s something you’d be interested in.

You see the difference though right? Your bud is nearly finished, mine has 4 more weeks.

Honestly I can't, but I am still on my first grow so I haven't acquired an eye for things like that yet.

Heres the same bud at 4 weeks (6 weeks actual)

OK thanks everyone. Hmm, maybe I will rethink going with a couple of stronger HPS lights or maybe a single really strong one instead of LEDs.

Here's two of the three I've got going right now under three 300 watt Viparspectras, and two 150 watt SunSystem HPS... I've been rotating them around very frequently to be under the different lights... Running the HPS with the LED really does make a big difference. Perhaps they are doing most of the heavy lifting....

i think your doing great, if it aint broke dont fix it

if you want to upgrade regardless, id look at the CMH route.
As someone else said, best bang for buck is def gonna be HPS tho.

I run a 315 CMH and love it! How DIY are you? Might build yourself a nice LED setup. Save your money and buy quality! You definitely get what you pay for in LED components.

Glad to see some CMH comments. I'm in the second week of veg with a new CMH light, and so far so good. Heat management has even been tolerable.

I replaced my dual bulb 400watt hps hood with 550watts of quality COBs. My bud quality is better and flower time is the same.

A 1000watt hps in a 2x4 is gonna be hot. Imo DB1BBE1B-1633-435F-840D-0DEA0280FFBE.jpeg

I used to run 900 watts HID in a 2 1/2 x 5 and that really needed enclosed ventilated reflectors, which I did not have.

Your in a 2x4? In reality. 1 600w HID will cover your needs just fine.

IF. you plan on expanding your garden....then, go up to a 1K HID.

Right now, 600 is just fine...

You mention tall....6' +....go HID for sure. Shorter and that heat thing in your mind? Go COB LED kit......
