well you gotta wait till you can tell if they are male or female, when not knowing what seeds you have you shouldnt plant them to close together, as the male will pollinate the females and thats if you have any growing and end up with a bunch of seeds in your hoped female plant
and since your growing outside and you have some females you'll have to wait till they bud and do some research to know when to yank those mama's out
if many months go by and you have all big green leaves and no bud pods forming then its a male, some will say trash them but I wouldnt, as the leaves since your gonna/should have a big plant, will have a lot of smoke, it just wont be as strong as the female/budded plant
one time we grew some outside plants and they were all males, this was when we were in our early teens and didnt know much about it, but we had pounds of weed, just had to some 5 or 10 big ones to get a decent buzz, but back to your question - yes they should be fine with just water and sun, just dont visit them to much as others will find it and take it, that happened to me and a buddy 1 time when we were young
sometimes you can tell early on if its a male or female, and male will have strong thick looking stalks and a lot of leaves and a female will have less leaves
