Another which nutrient thread. Fox Farm vs General Organics (soil)

Getting ready to do my first grow in 10 years. All of my previous grows were hydroponic (NFT and DWC) using mostly GH nutes with excellent results.

This will be my first soil grow.. I've used Fox Farm before to keep mother plants and never had an issue but that's the extent of my experience with the brand. I realize that you can grow herb with almost anything on the market but I'm looking for something that will be relatively easy as my life won't/can't revolve around my grow. I'm not overly concerned with a massive yield. That said, the quality of bud and taste are at the top of my list. I know there are a lot of factors to get there such as experience but i do know that what you feed your plant effects the quality and taste as well..

Thoughts? Other nutrient suggestions?

Thanks!

Ocean forest is great, i mix in a little extra perlite and fill my buckets about 4 inches from tge too, then i make a little nest out of some seed starter in the middle of the buckets and then top with 2 inches of EWC after the beans get the initial stetch. Other than maybe a little lime and some cal/mag I never see deficiencies and the smoke is great.

Thanks guys.. Kevin, are you saying just use FFOF (w/ extra perlite) for the beginning of veg and then just top of the containers with EWC? Obviously keep an eye out for trouble and act accordingly. Any reason for extra lime instead of just cal-mag? I'm assuming lime is for extra calcium?

Sounds like a a pretty easy plan!

Also, do you mix anything with the EWC top? Wouldn't the EWC cake up without something mixed in with it? I'll be using 5 gallon containers..
The lime is for PH adjustment which is kind of hit and miss. I have to use cal mag or Epsom salts for the magnesium because for some reason my LEDs make the ladies mag whores.
The EWC topping works fine as is, it does slow water absorption and gets cakey when dried but I never see any deficiencies with it.

I'm assuming you add/mix lime to the FFOF beforehand? Thanks for the tip when using LEDs, since that's what i'll be using..

I've been reading about supersoil and it seems appealing at first glance but some say it's unnecessary. Your method of topdressing the soil with EWC seems easier and less fussy.. Besides cal mag, you havent had any other problems? Do you have a favorite brand of EWC? I'm looking at these guys:

I use Uncle Jims from Amazon.com
Ive done the supersoils before and they work great too but are a lot of work and fucking around. I bought a big pickle barrel with a screw off top to dump it all in then roll it across the yard to mix. A decent size investment but it lasts a while too.
