I suppose you and your brother in law are what I would consider part of the problem.
Lets work backwards.

If he is an officer and is telling you " shit they do to peoole" .... Then you both obviously think it is funny to abuse the authority of position. But yet here you are screaming of injustice. If nothing else you should both be incarcerated for obstruction, aiding and abetting.

Were you even of an age to have dealt with the police 20+ years ago they weren't "normal nice police" . They were The Police. same as today. The difference is the respect they are given in the line of duty. Remember we pay them to do a job like everybody else. Putting themselves in harms way for your protection for the wage they make is not a fair wage. The craziness is not the cop crap its people crap. Ungrateful entitlement driven self absorption. WTF. Three arrests for dead beat dad. If a man is trying to take care of his dependents then there are avenues that keep you out of jail. DODGING gets you in jail.

Free travel in the US. Sure travel wherever you want. but remember if a cop comes at you and tells you to do something that doesn't cause you or another bodily harm then you are obligated by law to accommodate. Its part of being an American. Civic Duty I believe it is called.
Bull shit. A cop can not walk up and demand you do anything. Been there an done that. Told that fucker I'm not his dog.
I'm not arguing about the shooting.

I'm talking about free travel. They have no right to just screw with you.

This is a good debate and illustrates that being a cop is a tough job that not everyone who wears the badge is up to.

Agreed that many cops cross the line and stomp on the civil rights of citizens- which makes the job of a good cop that much harder.

Agreed also that this is a dangerous, violent society full of people who hate cops- which makes the job of a good cop that much harder.

I've found that in general when I treat police with respect I get the same in return. That said, I'm well aware that I live in a very white, affluent city and I'm white as a sheet.

I'm also aware that even though things are fine in my town, that other places in the country are not, and something must be done.

Been there done that??? You must be part of the problem. I've seen how well that goes down. Let me guess he said he was sorry to have bothered you and just walked away.

I am old enough to know the difference between being "screwed with" and being told to do something by an officer in the line of duty. I have also been places I shouldn't have been and was not shot for being stupid when caught.

the fucking cop didnt even bother chasing he just fucking murdered him

what the fuck is wrong with you?
I can think of a few cases where I would rather they shot than chase.
For one I'm old and don't like to run anymore.
Second if your running - your guilty - and I'm going end up supporting your ass with taxes, one way or the other. Funeral is cheapest economically speaking.
Third, a chase always ends up putting more innocent people in harms way, and here again I believe this because I am old enough to have many family and friends that I would rather not be placed in harms way because some idiot doesn't want to pay 100 week for their children to eat and sleep dry and warm.

No I'm not part of the problem. Cops sometimes think they are allowed to do more than they are. If I was in the wrong I took my lick. On the other hand I have rights and will stand up for them. A cop is a public servant and should act as such. A cop walked up and asked to see my ID. I said no. Just like I would say no to a search of my vehicle. I would say no if they came to my house with out a warrant. That's all.

But you mad it sound as if you were up in his face. And I don't believe it stopped there. Either way,
My point is that instigation of hostility is interpreted by each individual differently. Example: I am not a large man, I've been in confrontations where there was security on hand that thought they could defuse the situation. Well, It didn't go well for me because there came a point at which I felt threatened that the cop was going to get us both hurt so Like my dad said. If its going down Its better be on top. Ya we both went to jail. But I wasn't put in the piss tank. Just held and released.
Too many trolls insighting discord these days. Put forth a concerted effort, get a job and stay out of troubles way. Trouble wont come looking for you.

It's a complete corrupt system. There here to protect and serve not abuse and be above the law cops are fucked up and are better then anyone. The only reason you would have to surrender a license is if you were doing some thing wrong. A cop can not walk up and just ask for i.d. a cop cop not harass you for no reason I am sorry your to.puss to stand up for your self. Do we need to do a testi check cause I hear a bitch in this section

Oh it got a little loud and he didn't get my ID. You can stand up to a cop. Probably not smart. They dont have absolute power. Had a cop want to run the numbers on my pistol at a road block. Told him no to. We have rights. We should all exercise them or we lose them.

Road blocks are illegal check points. I informed them I had the gun. He asked if he could see it. I said no. He asked how he would know if it was stolen. I told him he had no reason to suspect it. I'm not a bad ass but let me tell you I believe in my rights and will stand up for them. I'm sorry your to chicken shit to stand up for yourself. I took an oath to defend the constitution against threats foreign and domestic. Cops that trample on your rights are a threat to them. I get it, your grow pops. You are older. I'm still full of piss and vinegar.

Old age and treachery my friend.
I do believe in standing up for my rights. and not getting shot in the process is high on my list of priorities.
I seem to have hit a few nerves around here tonight.
You must not live in the same state. You may ask to see the warrant at a roadblock and they are required to produce one. It will only take you longer to get through.

That warrant means nothing. They would have to have a warrant with your name and vehicle listed. License, registration, insurance is all they can ask for since your driving.

to be honest, i feel for the officer.

i watched the his dashcam and frankly, he did nothing wrong.

what happened was, the guy was sitting in his car..everyone polite..guy got out of his car to 'explain' something to officer; was told to get back in his car..nothing wrong with that..what happens now is what's wrong..

with what looked like another passenger in his car, the guy just up and bolted.

imho..that's pretty suspect.

cop didn't know if this guy was armed, had drugs or arms in the car or who that other person was (although judging on shadow: female)

he did not have complaint history (albeit one tazer incident he received a complaint over).

not a problematic officer by any means.

something was going on there..the guy also had some story about the car..he didn't own or have insurance (the owner was allowing him to drive for a few before purchasing). to the officer, he's driving someones car that he has no paperwork on. is it stolen? maybe.

now did the officer handle apprehending him correctly thereafter? no.

so, based upon drivers actions..i'm gonna say he brought this on himself for his 'hinky'.

schuylaar's personal advice when dealing with the police: don't run, they will chase you:wall:

this was not 'i can't breathe' by any stretch of the imagination..
I feel for the unarmed black guy he just shot in the back 8times and planted evidence by.. for fleeing from a traffic ticket.. I hope that cop gets knifed up in the joint....

For a moving violation yes. Road blocks are a little different, Probable cause is needed for a warrant I agree. Mood is established by circumstance of inspection point. Your responses I'm sure would be handled differently and the officers in question would still be "paid by you and I" while empting your pockets on the hood of your car and letting the judge (also paid by you and I) decide that you are legit with the gun but guilty of willful disobedience and interfering with an officer in the coarse of duty.

Well then quit letting it happen. We all need to stand up to this be and it would stop.
