any advice at all!

my plants are about 4 days old and seem relatively healthy. ive watched and read countless amounts of grow guides and im still a bit unsure. at this age what amount of water is too dangerous cause i feel my soil is not wet throughout the cup only the top and as they grow i assume i want to the water lower to accomadate for the roots. should i soak the soil until water comes from the bottom drainage hole? or should i let capillary action bring the soil throughout? i also feel the growth has slowed a bit and i understand this comes from not enough water and air to the roots but im terrified or overwatering! :wall: please help!

just water enough to moisten the soil. and let the top of the soil dry out between waterings

water your plants a good amount of water then when u think its time to wter them again stick your finger 2 inches down in the soil 2to 4 inches down

if its wet that far down dont water yet

I usually water until some comes out the bottom, like you said. Then I find that the first thing to dry up is the top of the soil. When the top gets dry again (not just the very top, but down a little - 1" or so) I water again.

k uhh by using the same cups you use to plant the seeds fill the empty cup half way then water your plant,,, by filling the cup half way you unsure your plants cup will get half full and allows the roots to feed and provokes root growth...hope i didnt confuse you....

also, plants grow best when the roots need to search for water a bit, so make sure they dry some and dont over water

Over watering is how frequent ya water. Its very hard to give a plant too much water at 1 time. Take a bucket and submerge the cup. Pull it up it will be watered.

IMO, it's a good idea to learn how to water by need, rather than by rote (schedule) especially if you're only dealing w/a few plants.

Mrfishy is exactly right. I do the finger test. you want the soil moist but not wet nor dry

I bought a meter at home depot that measures moister, ph, and the amout of lumens that reach the plant for ....... 7 BUCKS! the best tool to have

i beg to differ man that would be way too much water for a seedling or a new clone.. root rot is a danger wit what your suggesting . i took off to florida for a few days and figured i would over water my clones as to make it through my three day trip away from home. i came home to only half what i left they drowned!! also if the roots dont have to search for water they wont grow..

Exactly. I can tell when my plants are gonna need water a day or two in advance with just a glance. Takes a little practice, but never goes away.

Moisture meters are great for deeper planters.

haha im not a pic person, i dont even own a camera let alone a digital, but check the home depot website im sure it would be on there
