Any Advise?

I am planning a grow op. This is not my first but I am be no means an expert.

Heres what I have going on so far:

I just purchased a 1000w hps/mh. It has a digital remote ballast and the umbrella style reflector ( I am considering getting another). I also have a 250w hps/mh with enclosed ballast.

My grow room is an unused sauna that measures 6x14x8. I plan to line the walls with mylar.

I also plan to grow organic in 3 gallon planters, I dont know how many yet.

For nutrients I plan on using Earth Juice Grow and Earth Juice Bloom.

My seeds are Hindu Kush ordered from www.buydutchseeds.com.

Any advise on ventelation, lighting, layout, strain or anything you can think of would be appreciated.

Think twice about replacing that reflector. I mean you would replace it for a horizontal one right?

Then what? half of the available light is wasted. Much better to build around a light and turn the plants once in a while. I say hang that in the center back of the room and put pots on the ground and another row of pots against the wall where I suspose the seats are. with a 12 inch isle down the center to get to the back. Do a coliseum grow.

Get two bulbs for the MH
One color temp around 6500K and one 2700K or 3000K Use the 6500K for veg and the 3000K for flower.

Exhaust up top and vent in down low.

Well, thats my 2 cents.

What I meant was getting another light, not a new reflector.

Yes, the sauna has a built in bench that runs the length of the room. If I do put a row of plants on the bench, they would be closer to the light. That would mean that the light would be farther away from the plants on the floor. Is that ok?

Thank you!

I say make two rooms 1 for flowering 1 for veg and clones for a perpetual harvest, buy some fluorescent for clones use the 250 for your mothers, run the 1000 in your flowering area, carbon filters and or ozone generator for odor, some inline fans with ducting for proper venting.........Are you running a/c???Gotta think about heat during summer mostly if it gets hot in your area.....1000 produces a nice amount of heat. It's also nice to have a plastic drum rigged with a garden hose for easy watering...makes it a lot easier to water...I personally don't like mylar either it's a pain in the ass to clean if you smudge it....panda film works great for me....just a thought

I have a bathroom right next to the sauna I was planning on using for the mothers and clones.

I'm not too worried about smell because I have no neighbors or people around.

Ventalition is something I have to think about because the sauna is tightly sealed and does not get the ac, unless I keep the door open. Another thing is that the room is located in a basement and doesent get heat (in the winter) with the door being sealed. I am worried about the temp dropping too much when the light is off. I live in the upper mid-west and it gets COLD! Any Ideas on that?

If I was going to use fluorcents for the clones, what kind should I get?

Thank you!

I use 6500k 4 foot tubes from wal mart they also have the fixtures, you can also use cfls I prefer 4 foot tubes......for the cold use a portable heater and run your light during the cold part of the day..as for ventilation inline fans........you just have to find a place to run ducting.....

With the light in the center and a row of plants on the floor and a row of plants on the seats the plants on the seats will be further away then on the floor. The would be higher though. so they would be the same distance from the light.

sort of like this guys grow.

Get the idea now?
