I'm not trying to measure mash paddles here, I'm just wondering your point of reference is all. My homebrew club has a handful of guys who have been brewing marginal beer for 15 years. They think it's good and really that's all that matters but in terms of their beers ACTUALLY being good, the minor flaws in their process hold back every beer they brew. How do you tell a 'seasoned brewer' their beers kinda suck? You do so when they enter a competition. Competition brewing is about brewing-to-style and doing it better than the other entrants in that category. A brewer who is decent-at-best can occasionally pull and award here and there but the vast majority of the time poor technique loses to sound practices. My apologies if my posts came off the wrong way, I've just about done it all in terms of the beer styles I've brewed and the awards I've won. Just trying to pass on some proven techniques. Cheers! Most everything is a boil additive, all I was saying is that I would try the bud in the mash based on my experience.
Now its like well have you won any awards? Hahaha
