Any NFT Growers Out There?-Rep---NFT Only

NFT QUESTION-------do I need a slight mod, or am I ready to go?

I'm not an NFT grower, but I'll bump this and hope for an answer for ya.

im starting my nft grow....and id think that humidity wouldnt be enough to get youre roots to grow enough to where they reach your flow channels....its a guess but id reccomend a drip feed at least until you roots can reach the water.....idk,....but it may just be common sense...

i'd drip feed until you get that root-water contact, just to be safe. the humidity wouldnt be able to get a strong enough nute solution to the roots, it would just be too little for you to get what you want out of your clones, IMO. youre either gonna have to drop them down lower to where your medium gets some of the water, or have them rooting far enough to where theyll be in contact with the solution.

Hey buddy im an NFT grower too... to solve this problem... i dunno how u drain into ur res. But i bought 1inch pvc couplings from home depot and slipped them over my drain port... this raises the water level to touh the roots then just take that off when they hit the carpet mat (btw ive never heard of that where did u get that info?) If the coupling doesnt raise the drain enough buy a lil pvc and cut a couple more inches to add to the coupling 3" should be no problem..ps.. im gunna sub. To ur thread... do u have a journal for this op?.. (if u care to look in my profile u can see pics of my first nft... ive since upgraded ill have to start a journal for this one im just starting week 3 of flower) how many total ports do u have? What strain u got goin there?

I read some where a guy used clay pebbles in his NFT system, this was to perhaps rasie the water levels? Either that or you drip feed until you got some decent roots going. Either way, I'd say common sense dictates on this one. I use NFT also (feel the love lol) but I use a tray system, which seems a lot less sophisticated than your setup, which by the way, looks very very cool. Kudos.

I used timers on my tray system for a while, so the pump wasn't on 24/7 until I got some decent roots on the spreader matt. However I'm a first time grower I wouldn't want to be handing out my advice as gospel to say the least!

So I'd reckon a drip feed would be ok unless you can keep spraying them / watering them until the roots are a bit longer? Or do as the other guy was saying with those collars and raise the water level a bit until the roots are down nicely.

My primary hydro setup for over a decade was NFT i think its an overlooked method of growing these days as alot of growers want DWC Sprinklers wilmas ect when in fact NFT can match if not beat most other hydro systems out there for ease of use and end product. Back on topic, if your roots dont hit the nutes then there gonna die run them on a drip till they touch the nutes then let the constant flow of the NFT take over.

If you dont fancy rigging up drip lines and why would you there a pain in the arse in my book, a rubbermaid tote with a sprinkler setup works a treat to establish roots and costs peanuts a week or so in this will give you nice healthy roots then transplant into you NFT system.
