Any old school growers in the house!?

Hey guys, any one of you out there grew cannabis back in the 70's/80's. I imagine growing wasn't as much of a science at it is today! I'm interested on how you old school dudes grew this beautiful plant! :peace::weed::joint:
 
my parents had a full grow room in the basement and one in an attic at an Uncles house. from memory I'd say they were illuminated with flouro's and stolen streetlamp hps. dad was dickin with hydro before hydro was a word but production was done in buckets of soil/manure. 1970 to 1974

I grew in my closet at my mommys house during most of highschool. She called me retarded, not even joking! She said why don't you just grow outside like 'normal' people do lol, i was doing that too in the creek by my house.
Moved out right after i graduated in '91 with my buddy. We had 4, count em 4 - 400w lights. We were straight up ballin:-D Big time! Not long after farting around with flood and drain for a minute, i designed my first set of LP aero tubes, with a little bit of inspiration from a high times issue. I built my tubes for a bunch of other heads and one of our buddies got busted. Wish i could find the article online from the San Jose Merc news about the bust, but it basically said that space age indoor gardening had arrived lmao.

And then quite a few years later, GH came out with their almost identical aeroflo. Claimed to be designed my nasa. Wtf?

I could have written the same exact thing. Been growing since 1978, big time busted in 1990. Still growing, although now 100 plants a year in promix vs. 3,000 plants a year in hydro back then.

Only thing that really changed is more sources for supplies and seeds, and seed genetics went down hill (mostly).
 
First grow was in 97 while still in high school. Bought a 430 watt "sun Agro" that had to be special ordered through a lighting store. I remember thinking I was gonna get busted buying the light. Lol. It was serious biz back then.

Crammed 25 1 gallon bags in a closet and put a fan on em. The dark period was achieved with a sheet lol. Mixed my own soil in a kiddie pool inside with a high times recipe.

Had seeds delivered from Marc emerys catalogue. Had to get a money order and we had them sent to a friend who was not involved with the promise of free weed. His alias was "jimmy johnson" lol.

Got afghani, purple nl 5, black Domina and haze.

I bet each plant put out maybe a quarter hahaha! But having a half pound of dank in 97 while still in high school was pretty fucking cool.

I had the right idea. Light leaks and ventilation were probably my biggest downfalls.

This was all in an extremely cramped apartment complex. No filters as aero said. Soooo hairy. I remember peeking out the blinds like a tweeker and sweating anytime I heard a helicopter!
