any recommendations on seed for beginner ?

first time growing and need a good seed ( not too expensive )
i plan on growing one plant first time just so i get the sense of doing it and not having to go crazy looking after loads of plants.

i have been recommened short ryder from nivarna ( auto flower )

any other recommendations ?

I recommend any Northern Lights, or any permutations thereof, C99, SUPER SKUNK, ummm....oh yea any of the Bubblebum varieties. Ever heard of Bogglegum?

These are all hardy plants that take less than 2 months to flower. Easy to grow, high heat overfeeding and overwatering tolerance.

I put SUPER SKUNK in all caps because I have a particular emotional attachment to that strain. She was my first.

Id get sour D but I also got an emotional attachment to that strain.

But you should just use bag seed to fuck with if you want to save money.

I'd say AK-48, since that seems to be growing well for me. I have two Short Riders, but they're both starting to show as boys (seeing tiny bunches of balls) so I guess I'm not going to have any Short Rider to try yet. Blue Mystic is a nice strain too, and my 2 are growing beautifully, but one is looking suspiciously male - I have hopes that the other is a girl as it does not have any obvious balls yet. Of 8 plants, I have two confirmed AK-48 girls and the one Blue Mystic that I'm waiting on - the other 5 appear to be showing as males (I'm giving them another few days, just to be sure I don't trash anything by mistake). If you're looking to keep the plant short, you can always top it for multiple colas so it grows shorter and bushier. That would allow you to choose from many different strains that you might want to try. Check out Nirvanashop.com for their wide variety of seeds if you want to get a good price. They have great customer service and stealth shipping too. There are plenty of seed banks, but I like the prices at Nirvana...especially for a new grower who may waste a few seeds before they get the hang of things. It's not as bad to lose a few seeds to grower mistakes when you got a great price on them. Good Luck!

Sure...sorry I didn't remember to leave the link to the thread on topping. Uncle Ben is a veteran grower here and he really knows his stuff! Read the first few pages and you will learn enough to get the job done. He's a very good teacher - I got it right on the first try, and the results were just as he promised. It's tough to make the cut because you're basically lopping off healthy growth, but you will be rewarded with a shorter, bushier multiple cola plant. You can root the part you cut off and make a clone of whatever you've topped, so you'll end up with another plant too. Good luck! If you want something easy to grow go with Sensi Seeds Skunk #1. It used to be advertised as maybe the only plant that was easier to grow than to smoke. That was because it is a very easy going plant to grow and at the time it was one of the most potent plants so they liked to say it was easier to grow than to smoke.

I would say Northern Lights or Northern Lights #5 but they are getting hard to find in the original Cup winning genetics and you mainly find knockoffs of them and I do not know if they would be of similar quality or ease of growing.

What might help people to better be able to recommend a good strain for you would be if you said what you liked, as in a sativa, an indica, a sativa/indica cross that is mainly sativa, an indica/sativa cross that is mainly indica ... a clear soaring head high of a sativa, the mind and body numbing that comes from an inica, some combination of each but with of the two are more important to you.

With roughly 3,000 strains to pick from just saying recommend a strain for me makes trimming it down to what you might like best and is easy for a first time grower to grow a rather difficult task.
