anybody got any good reviews on the new
2009 Yamaha YZF-R1
It is pretty sick.

it is an inline 4 but it uses big bang firing which differs from all of the other bikes. It is killing proven bike packages in world superbike. I have an 08 right now and it is a fantastic bike.

It is a lot of bike for a first time sportbike rider.

I left off the Kawi 250r. That is actually a really fun bike.

I never keep a bike for more than a season. Usually I have 2 a season all of them used (less than a year old less than a few k on the clock - I buy them from noobs that realize they cant afford them or older guys who get scared or their wives make them sell). I keep my eyes open for deals and ride it until someone makes a decent offer. The jap bike scene is beat, I want to get out of it.

Too bad those 1098's arent a tad cheaper I want a tricolor or a Bayliss replica. I would keep either one of those forever (that is how my bro in law built his collection - buys them one at a time and gets the new model when it comes out). My brother in laws buddy has a Desmo that he took out with us one day, no I didnt even ask to ride. That is the dream bike.
Oh man, you're more spoiled than me! Lol. Also, I forgot to mention my other bike, which just sits around more than ever now that gas prices aren't $4.50 anymore, and that's my SV650S. It's a decent all a rounder, and if I were more of a novice, I'd probably love the thing, but I'm ashamed to say, it gets treated like a red headed step child sitting next to the Duc. I know, I'm horrible.

Joker, that R1 is an amazing machine, and the inline 4 bike I'd have if I had more money, but for a first time 1000cc sportbike? DON'T DO IT MAN!

lol that last sentence reminds me- my first bike was a 1987 CBR 1000. And yes, I almost killed myself. twice.

I dont know about that...

1 Ducati > than all my bikes combined. There are a few bikes I would never sell and Ducati's top that list.

Never ridden a 650. I hear they are fun good track bikes, I have ridden the sv1000s in the middle of july and it cooked me and it was a little sloppy. Thinking about a big v-twin and since the Ducati is out of my price range I have been looking for a RC-51. But I cant find a clean one.

I love bikes, I could talk about them all day.

Have you looked for used 1098? How much is too much? Check the different Ducati forums out there for people selling theirs. As expected, there were/are a lot of people that got in way over their heads financially buying new ones, or had the shit scared out of them once they actually took it home and tried to ride it. Lol.

Oh heck, you can get most any model of sport bike that way! I call it an "Oh Shit" sale. People think faster than they are ready to go...

Sad but true. I'd venture to say that after the 1098 came out though, the number of "oh shit" buyers spiked like never before. Lol.

Oh, and tnrtinr, DON'T BUY THE RC-51 unless you want the most painful bike in the world to ride!

Sweet ride! Go Honda!

Here is mine.
Sweet. When do plan on getting rid of those stock blinkers and license plate mount though? Competition Werks makes a sick kit for that bike.

Here's a pic of my last bike.

And one of my current one a little more visible.

You have a ferrari too??? Or just a shoutout to the Italian heritage?

That is not a bad idea. I looked at the end of last year and people were selling used 1098's over MSRP around here. I just figured it would be the same old story.

It still isnt riding season so there isnt much for sale now but with the economy where it is now I am sure there will be a few fire sales in my area.

I cant find a decent RC - it is either a clean bike that they want a premium or it is all chewed up.

I cant tell if it is the photo. What is up with your front end? Gold Brembo calipers? the rotors look like carbon discs but they are too silver... I thought they came with the Olhins shocks with the silver monoblock Brembos. Is that stock for the first year bikes? Maybe I am thinking of the S /R bikes.

Haha, it's the only "Ferrari" I can actually afford, and I'm a huge tafosi too, so it made sense to put it on there for me. It's an 07 standard, not an S version. $2,700 on the Termi race exhaust, but no Ohlins. The S version came with magnesium wheels, and Ohlins suspension/steering damper as well as the data recovery system for the track. To me, for another 5 g's I could spend that money better. And about the brakes, they are the Brembo monoblocks, but they're silver. It's just the light and the picture playing tricks on you. Those are on every version of the 1098/1198 line.

The carbon fiber termi is sweet. That picture is funny cause it looks like gold calipers and a carbon disc. LOL

You watch F1 too? What did you think of the Austrailian GP?

The Australian Grand Prix was great! Finally someone is out front of the "leaders".

For $4K, you should be able to pick up a decent bike with a straight frame. Might be high mileage.

I have not yet gotten around to getting rid of the stock stuff. So many other things taking money away right now that it really ended up low priority. Bike may not look much with the stock stuff on it, but it rides nice!

It was great to see something different including lots of passing. F1 was boring after Schumacher left. Even though Hamilton has been something to watch the racing in general has been boring.

Vettel and Kubica was rediculous. The cars are UGLY but so far the racing is great. I couldnt believe that Barichello bogged the start.
