I have about 18 plants to grow I will only check on them 1 time a week. I used hydro so this is my first with soil. I also plan on using dyna grow, so it don't want to burn then. would lime help with both cal and mag or justcal?. I can't buy fox farm or anything since I only have garden centers, I am sure something can by used.
thanks iin advance.

I've grown in cornfields before and found the soil pretty good for growing weed. Some worm castings and lime and your good to go.

grow your plants to about 6 inches and make sure the corn is the same height when you plant them you will have no problems in a corn field lots of nitrogen used for cornfields

Keep this in mind-- corn and pot grow at different rates, and harvests at different times, and change color at different times...
Even if you live where growing is legal and you are licensed-- growing in the open is still illegal... and you WILL get busted come fall!!

PLEASE tell me it is YOUR Corn Field!?

I used to grow on my ranch, soundsike a good idea to me. Most southern states are pretty lonely. No cops flying overhead.. I'm assuming your southern as I am. Haven't seen to many cornfields elsewhere.

well I am about 100 yards north of the mason Dixon line so not quite in the south.
.
good I was hoping to use the soil there less to carry to 3 or 4 different fields .
this might be a stupid question but where do you buy worm castings , I didn't see them at the some.
thanks for the help by the way.

Theres all ready worm castings and microbe life in the cornfield. I would wonder if the corn will get mowed down or harvested before your plants are ready ?

What type of field, sweet or feed corn?. Sweet(eating corn)is harvested too early to use for cannabis. Feed corn is harvested as late as possible so it dries on stalks.

Problem w/feed corn fields is some farmers use pesticides/herbicides/chemical ferts etc...I'd test soil before using.

Good point about the pesticides. Believe it or not some of the farmers use septic tank water to fertilize their corn. Guess it works wonders but, the thought of shit as nutrients is kind of gross.

how do u know for sure they use septic tank water ? I don't believe this to be legal with out proper processing and food label warnings ? There is compost fertilizers now that are Humane waste. Not good. You can google what soils and compost are humane waste. Washington state uses it a lot.

The fields i'm talking about are cattle corn. I know the septic guy who does it every spring. The waste water he uses is not treated with anything he pumps it right out of his truck.

well the water for these fields comes from under ground, the soil stays moist , if I waby to plant them the re is islands of bushes I could use, but I think it would be more visible .

not workers , kids cuttingthough the fields might stumbleupon them.
so when you say test the soil , do you mean a generic soil test, or send it to a lab?
I assume it's cattle feed since is harvested in October.
I have a mix of all different kinds of seeds, even autos might be good as well right?

Dent corn or "Field corn" is grown for both livestock and human consumption. A wide range of pre/post-emergent herbicides are used to maximize crop yields. As a earlier poster stated, many corn crops are now genetically modified "Roundup ready" meaning they are designed to be resistant or, to be totally impervious to the herbicide Glyphosate. This product is non-selective and will kill your plants. While it is not persistent in the soil-profile, it is commonly applied over-the-top to Roundup ready crops until it is no longer practical for the farmer to apply due to the height of the crops. Tall dent corn also greatly competes for sunlight and can grow to 12' in ideal conditions. This, coupled with the fact that any corn crop(dent, sweet or even popcorn) have earlier harvest times than your cannabis makes a corn field a poor choice for a grow site. Rethink your grow site.
