Any thoughts on this: What Might Legalization Look Like Under the Conservatives?

"Current Canadian federal polling shows that the Conservatives may well be on track to form government after the next federal election, on October 21st of this year. Among other policy areas which may see a radical shift, both cannabis legalization as a whole and the medical side of legalization are areas for concern."

"Marilyn Gladu is currently the opposition Health critic, and is a likely choice for Health Minister. Given her oft-criticized quote about using toaster ovens to consume cannabis, and her persistent opposition to personal cultivation, she is unlikely to be a source of progressive cannabis policy."

Hopefully we'll never find out.
I doubt the cons will do anything with legalization. Their whole objection was the same as their reaction to everything....Liberals are bad....they really don't care about weed.

Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb. Could anybody fuck up things any worse than Trudeau and his merry band of liberals have ? I doubt it. Only the government (whatever stripe.......cons.....liberals.....NDP could make such a mash out of trying to sell weed. I have no respect for any of them. Thankfully the Angels know how to grow and distribute weed to the masses. I grew my own long before trudeau came along and I will be growing my own long after he is gone.

Depends on how many shares their fiends an family members have in weed co. They could just leave it and let it fail and then blame Liberals for it OR if they really want to win propose a proper fix for legalization.

lol, may well be on track. I think it's a sure thing without all the people who would normally vote green or npd united under the "anyone but harper" banner.. all the people that voted for his fathers name that now realize his policies are not even close. Not to mention some of the hugely unpopular decisions he's made like extending voting to hundred of thousands of non-canadians. Guess they are hoping tricks like that will save them.

Back to topic.. what would legalization look like? Pretty much the same, less regulations, maybe easier to get a commercial license or open a dispensary. I think they both got what they wanted with this law which was the right to enter and the new cannabis charges they can use to police/tax the people with.

Problem is unless you're connected to a politician or some political way and you're dumb enough to spend money on a micro build out cause you don't have enough for a full LP applications atm you can't legally make ANY money off of cannabis unless you want to trim for 8 hours a day for $15/hr

I bet it's about as hard to make it in the cannabis industry as it is in the food industry. How many restaurant owners are working their asses off for minimum wage or even losing money? There are limits on the number of licenses they can give out for restaurants and similar hoops to jump through. You probably even need a license + security clearance to trim like you need a license to work around alcohol.

I agree with your point though, I just didn't really expect anything different. Powerful people protecting their interests.. Telling that some of the first people to invest in the (then) still illegal cannabis market were ex-cops. I just wish they would define the charges more clearly.

RIGHT!
So its SAME OLD SAME OLD..no one will STOP doing what they want and have done for EVER..its simple.
people think everyone will buy from lp's ..............stupid to think so..
like the feds HOPE..

It will look exactly the same, possibly with some small, insignificant changes. They might try to fuck with it, but the supreme court won't let them. I bet they raise the taxes on it to discourage use though.

if harpie was any indication.....they would reverse the legalization platform...
while removing any rights we might have had in the process..

pretty much what they did while trying to scrap the mmar...especially the part where they tried to remove the court
fought and court won rights,,,
why because he could....even though they had to know they would lose....

Have a look at Oklahoma.
Thanks for pointing this out.
I just quickly read one article: https://www.leafly.ca/news/politics/oklahomas-medical-marijuana-rush-is-even-wilder-than-you-think
I can't say I fully know everything about Oklahoma and cannabis, but ,damn, it almost looks like you have a "free market".
"Neal considered spending $10,000 on a Colorado consultant to help navigate the licensing process until he saw the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority’s (OMMA) required paperwork: It was a one-page form."

We fucked if they take it. Lol. Laws can be re written. Remember that.
Are you saying we're fucked if the Cons get elected?
It seems we get fucked from from both ends lol.
I just hope if they rewrite the law, that they "cut to the chase" and treat it like coffee beans.....maybe I should smoke another one :joint:

Problem is we need to replace him with someone. So far I don't see any adults running for the job. Scheer is a fucking moron, Trudeau is an idiot, Mad Max is a racist, Singh is a nobody and May is out to lunch. I can't vote for any of the fucking clowns, but I will choose the one who will take the vote away from Scheer. ABC for me.
