Hey folks, I'm on my Hardy Heron platform right now and I'd heard a song while headed through Sact'o yesterday that I haven't heard before, and I thought to myself, "Self, when you get home you need to open up the Frostwire and find yourself that song!" So, I get home and by then I'd forgotten. But by this morning I'd remembered. Hotay! Applications-->Internet-->Frostwire.
:?

wtf?

Applications-->Internet-->Frostwire.

WTF?? It's not launching. God dammit. Ok... System-->Synaptic Package Manager-->Search: Frostwire.

My install comes up, but I can ONLY mark it for removal or complete removal. Son of a bitch! That's alright, I should be able to find it again via Synaptic, right? WRONG! Now NO listing via Synaptic comes up for Frostwire. SONOFABITCH!

So, done some searching, found a Debian package for it, and wouldn't you know it, I've forgotten how to f'ing install Deb. packages. :roll: Jesus Horatio Christ. I only kept notes for the Gentoo command line crap, not for Ubuntu.

Edit: WHOLLY SHIT! The Debian packages install like f'ing Windows. :lol: Ok, this may be a great big nevermind.

It can be, indeed. But the beauty of using open source operating systems is that help is just a few keystrokes and clicks away. I just should have used those keystrokes and clicks BEFORE I put up the thread. :lol: Got my Beastie Boys, but Amarok doesn't support mp3's. WHAT THE FUCK? I bet there's something screwy with the file I downloaded. What do you think?

Edit: No, this is a problem with Amarok. God damn it. :roll: Great, now to find the codec.

Thanks much, roll1. I've got the Frostwire installed, got my file sharing shit set, my paths, etcetera. It launched just fine, found myself the tune, and now Amarok won't play it. I've got to fuck around with some codecs it's looking like from my searching.

Just TRY doing what we are able to do with Windows (find free, good help).

Use a different music player? You can get realplayer you know. OR use totem movie player that works with mp3s.

RealPlayer..? No, not for me. I was using XMMS, but decided I like Amarok better. If only it would play mp3s! I mean, a crapload of my collection is in mp3 format.
