Any way to speed the grow process up??

Hey all....I got some sweet clones the other day that were pretty young-- I transplanted them into 3-gallon pots (organic soil) and have them under some CFL's to get rooted better, hopefully in the next week or so I'll switch to my 1000 Watt HPS... my question is, I am going on a 10-day trip in mid-May so these need to be cut and dried by then!! I leave for my vacation in 12 weeks + 4 days from today-- I wanted to veg these girls for at least a month and the flower period is supposed to be 8 weeks, so I'm running into a time crunch to make sure they're ready and I don't want to have to chop them early....this is my second grow, advice is MUCH appreciated!! :)

You can flower whenever you wish. just depends on how much you want to yield.

since you dont want to cut early you pry want to give them at least 8 weeks. what strain is it, that would help me know.

if its more sativa.. flowering will take longer.

I have some white berry, royal purple kush, and white widow/durban poison-- I think those are all indica except maybe the WW hybrid? I can stick them in jars to cure the day I leave as long as they are totally dry, I figure 3 days (house is locked and safe while I'm gone). So I guess even if I have to leave them under the CFL's and only veg with the HPS (don't have a MH yet, my next investment!) I'll have about 2 to 3 weeks....how many leaves or how tall should they be by then?

Yup! Just pour a gallon of Nutes on em, straight no chaser.. J/k:) veg for 3 and hope their done in 8. 8 weeks is what the breeder gets. Meaning they have Optimal growing conditions. Ur gonna have to harvest early, to assure their dried. Whos gonna watch, burp, breast feed those jars while ur away??

I'd veg for 2 more weeks, just to make sure they'll be finished. If they're growing well, they should be pretty big in two weeks, so you should still get a nice yield, and 3 foot plants.

Your best bet, IMO, is to get a timer (if you don't have one already) and let the plants finish while you're gone. You didn't state whether that was feasible or not, but you did say that it would be stored while you're gone so I'm guessing you don't need it done to bring with you. You can try all the best nutes and best conditions within your means, but in the end it's up to the plant.

Yes, I have a timer, but this is a soil grow so they do need water/molasses at least once every 3-4 days from what I remember with my last grow, until you flush and turn out the lights for 48 hours before the cut....could I feasibly veg even longer, and have my flower period be 9 weeks instead of 8 and chop the plants when I get back from vacation on May 17th? Hmmm......

That was my initial point. That way, even if they're not ready on that particular day, you've got time. And if you water them real good before you leave, they'll be fine for 10 days or so. I'm a soil grower too and sometimes mine go 14 days with no water. It helps the roots stretch, promotes growth, and in no way harms the overall health of the plant. Sure, sometimes the leaves wilt a little bit, but watering perks them right back up within hours, and there are very noticeable growth spurts in the following days. Ten days should be no problem, just be sure to water them good, almost to the point of saturation, before you leave, much better than chopping when they will most likely be prematutre. As long as you trust your wiring and timer, you should be good to go.
And hell, depending on your space limitations, you can veg as long as you wish, there are no hard and fast rules on that. Most people force flower because they have limited room to grow, that part is totally up to you.

^^^^ never let ur plants go for 14 days without water. No reason! At his time frame. Roots will already be streched out. Plus that whole 48 hr of darkness has yet to be proven. In theory, yes. Scientificaly, no. Spellchex!!<<<

Ya let them finish while ur gone. Givwe em a good soak b4 u go. Its better to harvest when ur plants r kinda dry anyways. Or get a sub pump,pvc,1/4inch tubing, rubber grommets and a timer and set it so it goes off once a day for 15 mins. Have the pipe run along ur plants and the tubing into the pots. Jus rig it up b4 u go so u can fine tune it. Or u could buy sum of the aquaglobe things at walmart and return them when u get bak

Patience is key to having a great beautiful luscious plant.
Cool, I guess problem solved!! I will veg for a few weeks longer than I had planned so that they are still flowering while I'm gone-- aquaglobes sound like a good idea, then I'll chop when I get back ;-) Thanks all!
