I am crossing 6 different male strains with 5 different females strains. Mostly OG crosses with some really good local genetics from an old hippie friend; however there is some XJ13 and a few TGA's Pandoras Box genes and a Cheesedog (male) I bought from Connoisseur Genetics. I also am working with some of my previous breeding results (skunk based x local genes)
Like past years, I hang the males upside down over glass (after maybe one or two flowers open) and as pollen drops on the glass I collect the pollen in vials (Method from Mel Frank's Book). Then I use a paint brush to rub pollen on selective branches on the ladies.
My understanding is that the detereriation of pollen is most due to moisture, so I am trying to pollinate during morning hours (instead of night) - my thought process being that the nightime RH spike might damage some of the pollen.
Please share your breeding techniques, genes or any other insight or questions on this thread.
