Anybody ever had a ruptured ear drum?

Both of mine are. Happened a few days ago, but I ain't going into details. Overall stupidity.

Going to call my doctor Monday and have him check it out or refer me to someone who will to make sure all will heal right.

Doesn't hurt , everything just sounds muffled. Which sucks.

Google said they usually heal within 3 months, but some require surgery.

Ouch. I hope they heal up man that sucks. Never put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow.

If it's a slice we don't do anything. If it's blown apart we stent with gelfoam usually soaked in an antibiotic soln. Google tympanoplasty gelfoam stent.

I'm a Divemaster. That'd be the worse for me. I'd never be able to go down again!! Very painful I imagine.

I got a ruptured ear drum when scuba diving in the Bahamas. I was about 50 feet down, I heard something pop! because the pressure was immediately equalized with the water rushing in, I stayed under water for another 20 minutes before coming up. Once I got on the boat, I wasn't able to flush out my ears, so I put some drops of alcohol swimmers ear solvent to evaporate the water... big mistake. I screamed like a little bitch. Busted ear drum and alcohol do NOT mix. That was about 4 years ago. I need to wait another 3 or so years before I can go scuba again. Even then its a risk it will rupture again.

Nah, just the demon that is sometimes me, but not usually.

I have permanent holes in my ear drums thanks to my old Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor .. He was shocked though once when I came in with a ruptured drum from an impact .. He said the small holes he created allowed the damage to be minimal and that it would heal up in time .. He was right but none the less that ear is more sensitive now than the other . I am not capable of having the ability of allowing water to get within the inner ear as this is a easy way to get an infection and it drives me crazy once its in the inner ear .. I ll shake like a damn dog does due to it lol .. Best of luck on your healing journey .. I found cotton balls to bring great relief along with ear plugs when exposed to any cold air or wind ..

You're not far wrong! But then again, I am pretty good at it (apparently)!!

My left ear drum burst when I was diving once. I guess I had a mild sinus infection, clearing it while descending was no problem but when I attempted to ascend it locked up. I had no choice but to try and gradually surface (from around 80'), but that didn't work & the in-rushing cool water made me puke in my regulator (due to the vertigo), I got to the boat finally with my ear bleeding. At the hospital later that day they did some sort of procedure & to this day my hearing is pretty screwed on my left side.

Other than the damn near drowning part, it was not that painful.

I spilled gasoline in my ear(damn you VW).It was the most painful thing EVER

I was cutting brush one time and I was dragging a branch behind me. My pops said something to me from behind I turned my head and bam stick right in the ear drum.

That sucked. But ig it is better than losing an eye
