anybody here into rap music?

the reason i ask is because im trying to find people who are both familiar with nas and eminem. i want to see who you think is the better rapper between those two. im not talking about what magazines say and im not even going to bring album sales into this. i just want opinions based on their talent.

but feel free to talk about other rappers and artists since im not trying to turn this into a huge hate thread.

imho nas is a lyrical genius

Nas is cool, eminem is good when I feel angry.

personally, eminem is the most clever rapper ive heard lyrically, ever. Hands down just amazing. His rhyme schemes are always complex, with rhymes on words that most rappers wouldnt even think of, and for that i think that he is the better rapper

but yeah idk ever since i was introduced to nas i loved it. i always thought his lyrics and use of metaphors was pure gold.
i do enjoy eminem though forsure. but only em's real songs. im not a fan of some of the funny songs he puts out. (like "we made you" for ex.)

yeah, I was gonna add something about this.... Eminem definately has his share of "trendy" music, and its obvious when you hear it.... wasnt even including that shit, only his real music.

yeah eminem is a great rapper. i like them both a lot. but just for me when it comes to the lyrics and the metaphors nas is a killer.

IMO nas is OK. Em was definitly one of the best back in his prime, (Slim shady LP to The eminem Show) but now days i think there are more talented lyracists out there than both nas and em.

NAS is ill and i love his older shit!... but Eminem simply rips any beat and has the most brutal lyrics/flows! ... i like some of lil waynes shit too!

hahahahaha illmatic,stillmatic,gods son and even untitled shit on every one of Eminems albums,Nas says real shit while Em talks about problems of a dope addicted and fucked in the head individual.I think the only reason Em sold like he did was because of the outrageous shit he says lol.

If that's not enough said then let me put it this way, Illmatic is better than ANY RAPPERS' "Best Hits" album, ANY RAPPER. I don't give a fuck what Nas would have put out after this album, I wouldn't care if it sucked as much as Young Money, he would still be the best rapper ever in my eyes. Luckily for Nas fans, he followed up with It Was Written, I Am..., God's Son, The Lost Tapes, Stillmatic, all of these shit on Em's discography.

I view as Eminem as the third best rapper of all time, the guy was a genius back in the day but now he's meh.

For those who hate on Jay-Z, fuck you. He's mainstream now and his music is mediocre, but Resonable Doubt was one of the Best HIP HOP ALBUMS EVER! It's right below Illmatic in my mind.

Oh yeah one more thing, Az is lyrically one of the best musicians ever. He is also the most underated rapper ever. The kid had the best style I've ever, he's on some songs on Illmatic but he's consistently put out good music throughout his whole career. To me Az shits on Eminem so much it's not even funny. It's a shame not that many people know about him, he was literally raw as fuck.
