On Yahoo comments oh my fucking god it’s definitely more representative of America. I mean how can the polls even be this close between a fascist and a regular qualified human being you might ask? WTF I say too!
Well on there you will see what all Americans are thinking right now.
Anyways, just wondering who posts on there even though it’s very very hard to get a comment posted the way you would like to. You do learn how to post in a civil manner kind of how we had to do here. Often you can’t even repeat words that are in the title of the article you’re posting in or your reply gets rejected lol. But it’s always the people on the right, the maga republicans, that are the ones always complaining that they are the only ones being censored by the site lol.

There was a time I posted on a few newspaper websites, like WaPo. That slowed down in 2010-2011 when the bots started really showing up, ramping up the rhetoric and amplifying the stupid. I learned a lot before it went downhill, had a lot of really good discussions with other regulars.

Haven't done comment sections since. The bots really pissed all over everything. Don't know if there are any real places anymore.

I come here to talk about weed and help other growers. If I wanted to be into politics, I would go to another website. I don't even go to any other section of the forums here. If its not about weed...I DGAF

Ive actually been thinking about this a lot the last few weeks.

This is the first website I actively posted on. I made an account during the Great Recession when the company I worked at closed shop. I got my first laptop when I went back to school. I started to use RIU for grow info and stumbled into the politics section. During this time I did radicalizing into becoming a information anti-troll (because at the time I assumed accounts were representing actual people), which is exhausting lol. When I came back in 2019 it was with the express intent of combating the militarized trolls (Figuring out that every online interaction you have is likely with a militarized troll made it far easier to not trigger) that I knew were behind tearing apart my family and our nation with their shitty brainwashing campaign.

I have actively chosen games (couple over the last decade on iPad, and now I am playing FFXIV when I picked it up after taking a break from trying to push back against the propaganda war here in 22 when it was obvious the Republicans would just use the house to troll us and there really was not much to worry about dealing with until I got triggered enough by the news to start posting again) that the communication in them sucks if you are actually trying to play them to actively not have to deal with trolls until they become obvious, then a couple sentences usually will kill their spam. I made a account on discord but refuse to give it access to my mic while doing raids and things for the same reason. At this point I am pretty sure that unless someone has broken into my phone there is no actual recording of me out there online, which is nice if I ever decide to change that. Anything that is out there about me is on this site.

I found out a old friend was running for office (Trevis Harrold, he is actually one of the 'kids' I would always think of when I would talk about the hope I had after working with them in college), and offered to help but am not sure if his campaign had any clue what I meant by 'anti-troll', but I did make my first donation ever to a politician to him, and then a second when I accidentally accepted a call from him (I only answer my phone if I have their name programmed in) thinking it might have been about my application. Which is cool, I am not sure if he actually even remembers who I am, but I was super impressed with him at the time seeing how hard he was working and his willingness to keep stacking more on his plate to help others. And while I feel shitty that I am not willing to knock on doors, or do cold calls ever again, and have no interest at all in suiting up for fundraising (I have no money), if I was the one running, I still wouldn't do any of that so I don't feel too bad. And unless he wins and needs to start planning a long term internet presence, which I don't need to work for him to help keep an eye out for troll, I really am not sure how to be helpful directly.

I did try to post in the WaPo comments back when I was posting them here, but yeah most that stuff is so filled with bots (YouTube too) it is tough to break through the noise. And I am convinced that unless you have a large cult like following the online trolling will always be able to outpace any non heavily moderated forum, which is something that coming back after my last break and seeing that all the trolls have been cleansed (at least in this forum) is very impressive. So I get that the way I had to approach posting needs to change too. And am not sure how just yet.

I stumbled onto this yesterday, highly worth the watch of the entire video. But this part 1:11:00 is the entirety of why I have been treating posting here like my job since I learned about the attack.

I pretty much had been in a bubble here in RIU political section online-wise. I am clueless as to how much actual impact I have had outside of making trolls here earn their money and hopefully blowing up as many of their long term trolls as possible while I took the time to learn as much as possible about them along the way. So it is so nice to hear him discussing how much of a blind spot he has on this topic that I have been trying like hell to place a spot light on in the only social media I have ever used.

Sorry about the book. lol it is something I am thinking about and the above verbal diarrhea just kind of flowed.

I get what you’re saying.
I used to be the sworn protector of the LED light sub forum on here.
For years I exposed fake LED companies that were trying to hustle members, selling them bogus lights, made from bogus parts, that could never deliver on their promises.
I kept Mars-Hydro off this forum for several years, constantly exposing their crappy lights, until their reps would disappear off RIU.
Eventually, Mars-Hydro updated their LED lights so they weren’t complete garbage any more, and the other scammers fell off, too.
I realized that my mission was over, I held the hill long enough to win the war against the LED scammers.
But after holding that hill for so long, I was without a purpose, and felt awkward on here for a while.
I had to come to the conclusion that although I had protected RIU, and kept her strong, she’s not my baby.
She never was and never will be.
Nothing I do can change that.
I just have to remember that I did the right thing out of love for my fellow members, not to establish myself, or grow a business.
I miss being able to help out our members like that, but that is the past, and I now I just look back glad that I was able to make a difference.
From one RIU guardian, to another, thank you for your service.

I guess at the end of the day if Danial-son's ma came out and whipped the shit out of all of Cobra Kai as soon as she saw her kid being picked on, it would have made for a short movie where we never would have met Mr. Miyagi, and never learned the value of painting the fence.

I enjoyed how things were here w unclebuck.
Comments sections are a total waste now w the bots, whitewashing and categorizing our outlooks.
I’ve gone back to keeping politics to myself.
Just get out and vote or you can’t complain.
so you liked death threads doxxing and violence towards others, got it noted.

i didnt have too, you said everything clear and concise
Well I shouldn’t have to justify anything to you, but since you are painting me with your brush;
I’ll say my ideals are not in line w the crazy rhetoric of ub. I just liked he had the audacity and freedom at the time (his posts were allowed by someone in charge) to be who he was and the replies that resulted where always an interesting read. Seemed like bots were drawn to reply and he just handed it to them.

Interesting how you’re judging others now.

Don’t take this the wrong way, Again.

peace out.
