Anybody Unhappy with Smart Pots?

I'm a first-time smart pot user. They dry out quick, and I'm concerned about possible root damage when I transplant out of them.

So I was just wondering if anyone here had tried them, but went back to using plastic pots?

Also, I realize that plants get bigger and yield more in smart pots. But what about the potency of the bud? Is it greater in smart pots?

I'm happy with my yields in plastic pots. If I knew plastic-pot-potency was equal to smart-pot-potency, I would most definitely switch back to using plastic pots.

Thanks.

I really rate smart pots, I use 26L ones. Find them better then plastic pots nice and round and a better root mass IMO. I do think it all comes down to personal preference. You could do one smart pot one plastic and then see which you prefer.

personally i believe smart pots produce better plants/bud sure they dry out a bit quicker but they also let the roots breathe properly even if you have overwatered. And the plant never becoming root bound is just awesome. As for transplanting im pretty sure you can just put the whole fabric pot into your new container and the roots will grow through the fabric, but i haven't tried it so i don't know for sure

i just started with the fabric and noticed the drying but i can tell it is worth it, just adjust your watering and you will see what everyone is talking about :), It could be something else to...because almost EVERYONE i know has given the fabric 2 thumbs up, :) GOOD luck!!!! ONE LOVE

I love my Smart pots as of now. Every time I used plastic I always got root bound for whatever reason no matter; if I left it so dry it wilted and watered, still spun roots and roots focused at the bottom. I just uprooted a male they vegged for 5 weeks and flowered for 1 and when I took it out the pot, from top to bottom I could see a lot of roots, but when you tore it up, it was completely filled with roots, the entire medium was filled with roots. I'm finishing two more plants vegged for 5 weeks and I'm going to flower for 8 weeks or more. And these are 2 gallon Smart Pots. It uses every little piece of soil, water, and nutes it takes up. I don't think I'll ever use another pot again. I was even thinking about figuring out how to making smaller seedling pots for my seedlings to start in, then put them in 2g 8in pots to finish.

you can grow a 7 foot plant . 10 ounces from a 3 gallon smart pot, I like when they dry out fast, because half the time ill be stoned when I water and end up watering the same one 3 times lol .

if you like to water constantly, they are great. in my personal side by sides they never produces more budz then plastic pots BUT they did keep the plants shorter and bushier. with 45 plants in my room i dont want to be watering so often. its all personal preference for sure though. do a side by side and see how they do against one another, experimenting is my favorite part of gardening.
good luck

I love smart pots I will never use a plastic pots again. Yes the soil dries out faster and you need to water more but that is not a bad thing. I feel it makes feeding the plants more effective because I can water every day and feed every day flushing once a week of coarse. More oxygen makes it to the roots so the roots are healthier and thus grow faster making healthier plants.

Love them...may dry out quicker... But, hey keeps you from over watering. Which tends to be one of a NOOBs biggest problem. Plus, it sure helps get rid or reduce those bothersome Gnats.:peace:

really wish I had gotten fresh smart pots for my current grow but none of the stores around me had any and my old ones got thrown out. Im using plastic pots atm and I really truly miss my fabric pots.
