You're as protected as you were before the dispensary opened - which is to say legal by state law, illegal by federal law. Most of the comments here are spot on - you can grow as long as the card you have says you can grow and is valid. The state will stop issuing renewals with grow rights if the PATIENT is within 25 miles of an open dispensary. Dispensary licenses will be granted on August 7th, but can't start operating until inspected by the state - and there is no reason to assume that will be a particularly efficient process. Count on at least a month after August 7th for the state to act.
Most people don't get that there is a legal way to keep growing. Advertise in Craigslist or similar for a patient in a rural area that is more than 25 miles from a dispensary - and then you can grow for him as a caregiver forever, even if you are within 25 miles of a dispensary yourself. And you get to keep the excess meds you produce.
