I will absolutely be renewing. Unless I'm talking to a DEA agent, I'm not doing anything illegal. Moreover, simply having a card doesn't equate to possession (for the DEA folks out there). My name appearing on a registry doesn't require me to possess anything, so that fact alone should never justify any probable cause from a fed. As for my name being on a list in general, since Amendment 64 passed, the culture's changes, so I'm no longer worried about my name being on a list. Instead, I'm happily adding my voice to those of other marijuana legalization advocates, and I'm proud of it!
For another thing, just because they have access to the list doesn't mean they're doing anything untoward with it. While I don't like it, I realized that was a legitimate risk when I sent in my application (you could tell that the woman at the post office knew what was in the envelope when I first applied, based on her expression, but I didn't care about that either). Sure, some of the really high plant counts may catch an eye or two, but if the patient is complying, the patient's complying. Whatever the case, though, I'm sure this isn't the first time or the last time. Also, having access is different than actively using the list. While I don't doubt the folks that said the police looked them up from the patrol car, I doubt that's a regular activity (i.e., standing orders to run everybody's name through the MMJ list).
I'm rambling now, so I'll shut it, but I'll definitely renew.
Cheers!
