I have been arrested for growing MJ in upstate New York and that really sucked. All my life I was told I was doing something wrong when all I was doing was smoking a wonderful, majestic herb that has untold healing powers. I was stuck in places where I was looked down upon for being a "stoner" and a dredge on society.

I now live in Southern California and am able to grow, buy, and smoke my medicine legally and honestly I couldn't be happier. I don't have to hide what I do because there is NOTHING WRONG WITH IT! It is such a relief to be able to go to the Hydro store and buy an entire setup, not one piece at a time, and not have to worry about being followed back to my place by a cop or a snitch.

Who else has been arrested for growing and who is now growing legally and loves it??

its a big fine and community sentence over here now mate. everyone is doing it, and they havent got enough room to lock people up who aint violent. and thanks.

even with a mmj card in a mmj friendly state u can get arrested. it happens. even if ur under the limit. or at the least they will give u a hard time by taking all ur plants and such. theres always horror stories popping up.

Ive pretty much always grown legally under my states mmj program but i started my first grow without being a cardholder. i didnt even finish the whole first crop before getting my papers.

even to this day with an mmj card im still VERY paranoid of the law and possible robbers so i conduct my grows like i dont grow anything at all. ya kno. i never admit to growing...never tell anyone...etc.

its just not worth the risk to me. i seen friends go down and ones who just go harassed by the law (plants destroyed before verifying they are a legit mmj patient, etc) i even known a few buddies that were subject to home invasions from rippers targeting their grow or supposed "cash stash" (didnt grow for profit so the joke was on them) but one of my friends had a tragic ending to a home invasion (family member murdered) so yeah. its scary even if ur in a place where mmj is legal. so be careful none-the-less..

Well said, always better to be careful. I keep everything I do on the DL so I completely agree with you but at the same time I am more worried about being robbed than being arrested and that's def a change from the last time I was growing. Last time I grew, I expected the cops to be there every time I came home. It was very stressful. Now all I am worried about seeing are firemen because something electrical happened, but my shit is tight so I don't think that will happen (crosses fingers).

I remember always being paranoid when growing in NYC. Everytime i heard a helicopter fly past our apt building i'd get nervous. I just got to socal yesterday but will be going to the doctor ASAP to get my rec.

I grow in a mmj state. Ive never been caught. Yet. :( had to chop my chemdog sour lifesavor cotton candy kush plants along with mothers so i lost all the genetics all cause of a snitch. But then the snitch gave me a heads up. Shes a bitch atill but what can i do. So i moved and set up my personal grow with 3 plants of northern lights.

i agree. ive always been more paranoid with rippers because a grow of any size is worth it to a thief. the cops generally only go after the bigger grows. they could care less about a personal grow because its not worth their resources/manpower. given the economy they really wont waste their time. if the economy was better they may go out and set up a few operations to send a message to personal growers and instill fear but i seriously dont see that happening.

i mostly dont tell friends not because i think they personally would try and rip me its the fact someone may find out who is a ripper.

Got busted by DEA in 90's for cultivation of over 99 plants and 7 other felonies they attatched to the grow op. Got the 5 year mandatory minimum. Didn't grow for 7 years (4 in prison and 3 Supervised Release). The day I signed my release papers (from supervised release) I boarded a plane to Holland for new genetics. I'll never shake that fear of arrest no matter how much they back off.

I didn't do nearly as much time inside as you did but I understand this completely, you get PTSD from the experience, it makes it very difficult to trust others again or even do simple things like answer the door or the phone, the anxiety is crippling.

Well said, anxiety is a bitch. Fucked me up for a while but I am much better now. Green medicine helps.

Yeah it does help for some parts of it. I find pot is bad for panic but it's amazing for everything else, general anxiety included (panic is where you freak over the symptoms of anxiety, so it builds and the symptoms become... so bad that I still have PTSD round the clock from my first panic attack, 9 years later).

Yeah I am very familiar with the panic part, I was hardly ever able to get out of that panic unless I left wherever I was. It was like a fight or flight response but I knew it would be ridiculous to fight, and unprovoked, so I just fled. When I calmed down I could usually return, but not always. My best recourse against this was to avoid the panic altogether and that meant just keeping very calm and chill and that's where the herb came in to play. It keeps me calm without having to take stupid Xanax.

Meditation can help a lot, also reminding yourself that your mind is irrational when you start panicking, so you can't reason your way out because all your thoughts are making no sense... and if you start getting bad physical symptoms, breath into a paper bag, it makes pins and needles, turning blue, etc go away almost immediately, for years I didn't know I was hyperventilating, it didn't feel like I was, I was breathing deliberately and deeply to make sure I didn't but somehow I still was...??? Either way it works!

Thing is, once you get over that initial panic, if you can stop that, pot becomes the most calming thing on earth... Xanax will stop panic, but only pot can leave you at peace with the entire world at a spiritual level...

Yes! That's what I am talking about. It's much better with herb. Side effects are happiness and a good appetite, oh my, how horrible.

My physical effects were massive sweating and heavy breathing, maybe I was hyperventilating and didn't even know. Another good thing was talking about it and telling others what was happening. At first I was embarrassed but when I found out that many other people have suffered from this, it was easy to share and that made a huge difference. I didn't feel like such a weirdo.
