Anyone freeze their harvest ?

Heard this can be done to preserve the freshness of a harvest, any opinions would be appreciated. Got more than I expected & don't want to ruin my weed by letting it dry to much before I can use it.

I always freeze my stash...never a problem..I think it improves taste!!!
I agree, it seems to noticeably improve the taste. I harvested early Feb, and had about 4 oz more than I needed to get by till next harvest, so I figured I'd freeze it. I tried a little of it a couple of days ago and it had significantly more smell and taste than the stash I keep in jars. Was also surprised how fast it thaws, it's ready for use within minutes. I did dry it first and cured it for a week or two before freezing it.

I like this freeze drying talk in order to improve taste and smell. :eyesmoke:

I might have to try this.

and I did read something about a dude who vacuum sealed some mason jars and two years later they were still in good shape.

A freezer could go out , you never know and you got crap if that happens. But I actually like the idea of freezing it after a short cure to help with the cell breakdown maybe.

A cool dark place in mason jars. your smoke can't cure if it's frozen.

Storing & keeping fresh marijuana (weed).
The best ways to store your cannabis & pot.

Many people have asked us for the best way to store their marijuana and keep it as potent as possible. Storing your cannabis buds and keeping it fresh and potent is not as difficult as you might think. But many people believe that freezing your buds is the way to go for maximum freshness and potency. THIS IS NOT TRUE - IT IS A MYTH AND I'LL TELL YOU WHY. And, keeping it only in clear plastic bags is NOT ideal either (another popular belief).
On the contrary, freezing your marijuana
is NOT the best practice and here's why...
After all your work in growing your prized buds, you want to keep it fresh and potent for as long as you have it. When you grew your marijuana you waited until the trichomes (resin glands) were just right before your harvest so that you would have the best potency you could from those plants.
When you freeze marijuana buds, you freeze those potent little trichomes as well (like icicles). This makes them stiff and brittle and actually makes them fall off and break off the buds. The more you handle the buds in and out of the freezer, the more you lose those active ingredients that make the pot get you high.
Yep, they freeze and actually break-off the buds and fall into whatever bag or container you have, making the weed less potent. All plastic bags have some static, even this static attracts the resin glands that you are trying to protect and keep intact. While I recommend using plastic sealable bags, I do not recommend freezing your weed or handling it more than is necessary if it is frozen.
Ideal Storage: Keep the quantity of marijuana you wish to store separate from your daily use stash. Put it in brown bags (or any dark paper), then place it in your ziploc bags and remove any air that you can. Refrigerate, or keep in a cool place where there is little activity preventing any constant movement or handling. This will keep your cannabis both fresh and potent for a very long time.

This should help you store your marijuana successfully and have it available and potent for as long as you can make it last...

Wow a fancy paragraph and a picture. Who's the author?..I disagree, frozen weed keeps fresh for years and
doesn't get brown or dingy looking...although there is some truth in the fragile trichome talk.

Thanks for sharing that. It's not something I do because it stores mj better, but "from what I was told" longer.

The more you handle the buds in and out of the freezer, the more you lose those active ingredients that make the pot get you high.
Well, besides that being true also if you handle the buds in and out jars, bags, etc, that is why I keep them in small zip locks which in turn are in a larger quality zip lock (to contain baby shit specifically). So only take out what I need, never put something back in.

Never done it myself but I know a veteran (25 years plus in a polytunnel) who did so must be OK. Unfortunately ended up getting busted with many many kilos in his freezers!
I would guess that you should cure first. Also, catch any trichs when defrosting (paper sheet etc)
Mine's lucky to get to the end of a decent cure before it's gone anyway!

Well I'm gonna try it, my only other options are letting it dry out, I did that with a couple of oz's on my first grow & noticed a decline in the buzz.

Pot in the freezer?

I've smoked a lot of pot out of the freezer, the only advantage I can see from putting pot in the freezer or the refridgerator. Is slowing down the cure process, and keeping the bud fresh longer. The slow cure process over a period of time, does give a bit of a different flavor.

If your going to keep your pot for a long time before you smoke it, it makes sense... If your not, it probably doesn't.

A good cure and a closed air tight jar is all you need man!
This is the route I take...I have stash five plus years old in Mason Jars, in my basement, in the dark...I can not tell that any deterioration has taken place...Maybe someone will develop a "Dope Cellar" or "Dope Humidor" for us vintage, pot snob connoisseurs...FWIW
