anyone growing in pvc pipe ,i have a ?

i looking to build a wheel out of pvc you can see my post and sketch here https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/307390-looking-grow-wheel-help-me.html
my question is if i take 4 inch pvc and drill a 1 inch hole in it, can i put my rookwool starter plug into it and let the roots grow into the pipe? or should i fill the pipe with perlite? i'm open to any ideas

any weird gizmos like that should be pure dro and use rokwool or hydroton

other question if the plants are a foot apart do i need to have something to keep the roots apart? or will one plants roots kill the other plant?

not likely in hydro they would have to be damn nere on top of each other you are fine roots can touch and even knot up like one big dread lock

After growing for so long the roots will intertwine. Then you will have issues if you try and move them. So do you plan on flowering them also in the pipe?

yep i would let them get a foot or so under the 1000w mh bulb on 24 hours then switch the bulb to my 1000w hps on 12/12,i have 3 rooms i can work with so i might do 2 of these and a cloning room.

actually feeling the pipe with chunky perlite would be awesome. It would potentially make watering and feeding super damn easy. way easier to pour some water every few days thru the perlite like some kind of hempy bucket. A hempy bucket is a soiless grow with perlite as the medium instead of peat moss.

That said plenty of people use aero misters or drip. What if you stuffed it with rockwool every run and let it just grow thru! Awseome, I love rockwool. Cut holes on the outside of the wheel and just turn the wheel thru a pan like the omega garden. Way cheaper. Use a portable cement mixer to turn it for a few hundred bucks and diy angle is easy.

ive seen what ure talking bout its like nft a small continual stream of nutrient rich solution is run over the roots . seen it done outdoor using a goldfish pond water as solution . if on a wheel id use cell core dwv pipe , its lighter than potable pressure pipe and pressure fittings for connections .

i grow in hempy buckets right now and really like them but i think i can fill the pvc with perlite and just rotate the wheel a little bit a few times a day by hand and just feed the whole wheel 1 time a day or so.i think i can put 48 plants in the wheel with a eye 1000w super hps .they can get get 3 ft tall each i'm thinking 1-2 pounds off the wheel every 8 weeks?

when i buy every thing i'll try to make a parts list so if this works any one can adapt it to there style.
