Anyone have any experience growing autos outside?

I recently picked up some auto seeds and wanted to start a new grow. I’m currently in the beginning of spring where I’m at and thinking of doing an outdoor grow. Only problem is the research I’ve done on autos outside is pretty inconclusive. Some people swear by autos outdoors others say to never do it. Just wanting to get some answers or just the general experience you had with autos outdoors. I have the plants starting indoors under an LED and was thinking about just letting them veg complete before putting them outside. Tbh I’m pretty clueless when it comes to autos and outdoors lol. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks

Alright I’ll probably just grow a photo outside this year and keep the autos inside thanks for the reply.
No the opposite autos better for outside vs wasting energy grow photos indoors imo is the better way and sometimes in the far north for example autos and semi autos are all that will finish in short summers cold wet windy climates if you in a good climate they will do even better

Autos do just fine outdoors. You can even plant both(photos and autos) together for a staggered harvest outdoors. Where I live I am allowed to have 6 flowering plants per residence legally. So in essence I can grow as many plants as I want so long as only six are flowering at any given time. By growing autos and photos together I can grow multiple harvests outdoors from the same plot legally without light dep.

Not the case here they just don't do good .Got 6 month's grow season here so not a issue..They just do better indoor's. Tried 4 or 5 time's just not good and don't fill out..Same with taking plant's from indoor's to out they bud early here and don't fill out..But yes i could see with short grow season..

I live in northern California and do autos every year to have some early harvest. I have zero issues and they come out good.

Seems you are missing something.

I will tell you what im not missing is Auto's.. Im not the only one down here that has tried them.Only time they work some is indoor's.Just don't thing a plant has enough time to get good pot. in 90 day.s..Or do i want to go to jail with a plant that only get's 3 ft.I know there is some of ya'll that do it good.If i grew indoor's ...Well still would not use them.Have not smoked any Auto's that are really good. Cali... Why grow a little plant in Cali. ? You can put in yard like a garden. No one from there should have any issue's...Water... Here jail

I have already answered your question with the words "early harvest"

My photo summer grow is my main grow but every year I do some autos and do them well.

Most folks that don't like autos don't like them because they aren't good at the seedling stage of growing. Any time lost is yield lost. So if you are not good at early life growing of pot then you will have the outlook of autos suck, only 3 foot plants, and the weed isn't that great.

I know what early harvest is that's why i said 90 day's. It is not know how here. They just don't do good Outdoor's.Just about any plant here that bud's in dead of summer don't bud's not full Smoke not worth it..Alot of us have tried . In a lab might be great..Indoor's

Coastal NorCal here- what auto strain and from what cultivator do you use, if you don’t mind me asking?
Have some wild ones sprouted from a BananaKush auto pollinated by BlueberryOG Photo. Got the auto from ILGM, and the Blueberry was supposed to be a fem, from Dutch Passion. The seeds that sprouted were second-gen inbred (trying to build-up the auto gene), but not super impressed by the growth, mainly that the smell and flavor is lackluster.
So, any recommendations?

If I remember correctly and that's a huge if as these seeds were from years ago I think they were from i49. Which means the "breeders" are trash. But yet they still do well.

After this summer I will be out of them. I will probably begin the search for good genetics come December lol

This is exactly what I did last year, except I did not wait until Veg was over. I initially moved a couple plants outside from 24 hour LED lights and the
response was so good that I quickly moved the rest outside. Did auto Gorilla Glue and freebie Carmelicious from MSNL and harvested multiple oz from each plant. Let me note that my indoor area is small with only 1 led 300 PPFD. Only issue I had was some amount of hermie seed production. But the bud is tasty and good smoking. Not quite as good as the best medical/professional, but as good or better than any previous grows for me.
I am growing some of that seed and it is looking and consistent with the parent. Good luck

I too have/am growing ILGM autos indoors and the yields have been somewhat sub-par.

They seemed to fill-out a little more outdoors so may try again this year. Looking for a breeder recommendation as some of the auto grows on this site look phenomenal.

I prefer autos to photos for outdoors as the pests have less time to infiltrate the crop here in NorCal.2E51539E-D954-4CF4-B2EC-09073C1D0F0D.jpeg

My NYC diesel and amnesia lemon from Linda seeds did ok OD in 5 gal SIPs. Excited to see how Seedstockers and Supersativaseedclub autos do outdoors. Maybe even a few Twenty20 Mendocino autos as well
