I just ordered some golden teacher spores. They are apparently easy to grow but fairly middle of the road potency wuse. Going to make a shotgun fruiting chamber and try the pf tek for my first round. Maybe then move on to mono tubs.

I'm aware I can take a spore print from one of my GT'S and use that to continue growing more GT'S. I'm just thinking now I should have ordered more of a variety from the get go so I won't have to place another order in a month or so.

Is agar basically a way to clone? I've read a bit about it but don't understand why people are knocking up agar dishes instead of just going straight to their substrate.

With agar. You can see which colonies will be stronger. The speed of how they will run. Also use as a predictor of overall health and vigor. And how it may fruit. Having a live colony to put it your sub means faster overall colonization. And less risk of invading contaminates.
