Anyone know what these marks are?

Hypoaspis mites are useless for thrip control, the mites live in the soil and the thrips live on the plant.
Mites can catch a few it might even help as a prevention mesure but completely useless once the thrips move up the plant.

Personally I'd be using chemical warfare thrips are a nasty pest!

Neem oil is good but you can buy predators on amazon or garden centre they eat the thrips then die after around a week without food I personally would try the predators mate

Predators take too long and are not always effective once an infestation occurs. They are better used as a preventative. Once an infestation occurs you need something more effective than adding some predators and hoping they eat all the bad bugs.

Good to know thanks my first grow too but thank F I've not experienced any bug problems yet hope it never happens but I'm not the luckiest person lol

Would you recommend buying some as a preventative method ?

I'd just spray with neem or something as a preventative. But only in veg and the first week or 2 of flower. I've switched over to sesame oil myself and no longer use neem but it is an effective preventative.
