I would say just or mainly magnesium. Calcium problems normally hit the newer leaves, the youngest leaves, the fresh new growth, as can be seen in the pictures found by following the link in another post. Magnesium problems normally hit the lower leaves in young plants and the upper middle in older plants. It appears to be the upper middle leaves in the pictures of the plants with the problem so that is why I tend to believe it's just or mainly magnesium. Another reason is some leaves are showing a slight twisting and what looks like the beginning of a very slight upturn and that is another sign of a magnesium problem.

Excessive levels of magnesium in plants will exhibit a buildup of toxic salts that will kill the leaves and lock out other nutrients like calcium. Magnesium can get locked out by having too much calcium, chlorine or ammonium in your soil/water.

I also just read that when using soilless mixes it is very common to get mag def's, I know I've run into this problem before and couldn't figure it out. I'm thinking that they are also growing at a faster rate because I have my co2 pumpin away and they just cant keep up....gonna go get some cal-mag and foliar feed, I looked this morning and they are steadily getting worse so my question is??? Should I lightly foliar feed ONCE a day until I see improvement or should I do it every other day?? BRICK TOP I agree with you that its a mag def after doing ALOT of research...

P1000638.jpg..........................

and I might have fucked up cause I haven't been using my RO water just straight tap water that is ph corrected so im guessing that there is lots of chlorine in my water and that might be causing it.. After getting my mag problem under control should my leaves green back up?

BrickTop you were 100% right, it was a mag def and come to find out that advanced nutes doesn't put it in their bloomer you have to buy bud candy or something like that in order to supplement it. I think it's pretty shitty on their part to do that to people and not tell them. So if your having problems with advanced nutrients and they look like my pics most likely its a mag def... THANKS ADVANCED NUTRIENTS!!!!!!! P.S. Instead of buying BUD CANDY for $30 a quart you can get any kind of calmag for around $50 a gallon. I'm starting to think twice about advanced nutes

Magnesium is essential for many plant functions. Some of them are:

  • Photosynthesis: Mg is the central element of the chlorophyll molecule.
  • Carrier of Phosphorus in the plant
  • Magnesium is both an enzyme activator and a constituent of many enzymes
  • Sugar synthesis
  • Starch translocation
  • Plant oil and fat formation
  • Nutrient uptake control
  • Increase Iron utilization
  • Aid nitrogen fixation in legume nodules

I found this awhile back and it seemed to help when I needed it..........of course, I Use GH and I NEVER forget the CA/MAX...............Magnesium deficiency. To treat deficiency add 2 teaspoons of Epsom salts (magnesiun sulfate) per gallon of water/nutrient solution. For fast results, foliage spray with 1 gram Epsom salts per liter water . Greening starts at top of plant and moves downward. add same dose until symtoms disappear. Keep root zone and nutrient solution 70-75 F and your air temperature at 75F day and 65F night. Use full strength nutrient solution with pH balance 6.3 .

.Be sure and mix the salts into R/O water first

Thanks dude, Got me a gallon of calmag and never gonna be without it... I think that Alot of these defs that people think might be nitrogen are really mag def's and when they add more nitro that doesn't really help and they can figure out why. I have been gardening for over 10 years and never realized how important mag is until I started using ADVANCED NUTRIENTS..... Thanks guys for all your suggestions...
