"Weed Communists" is a term I use for several close friends of mine who every harvest get all butt hurt and angry that someone in their close circle of friends has what to them appears to be unlimited amounts of bomb weed and yet is "stingy" and refuses to subsidize their habit citing such high minded marxist/hippie ideals such as "Man! Weed should be FREE! You gotta spread the wealth when you got it like that. Quit being a stinge!" and get genuinely angry that I won't give them more than an occasional nugget free, or won't sell it to them at ridiculously low prices that it might as well be free. I get it, it's hard times and someone with a 400 to 500 a month habit at working class jobs can suffer mightily from the jones..but come on. I tell them all time when they try to pull all that whiny crap, "Last I checked Weed wasn't communist."
I grow just enough to supply my own habit, with 2 ounces left over to pay for the electricity, water, replaced equipment, etc from the grow and those few buyers they already get a 25% discount off market rates. There isn't a big margin in there to set up a US Bureau of Weed Welfare.. which is essentially what these people try to use me as. I even joked to some of these people I was going to put a sign on my door and make them fill out forms showing their average income, rent, utilities, etc and cost of habit per month. Sad part is, they probably would hand that all over to me if I promised them a weekly stipend!
Now don't get me wrong, these are all great and longtime friends of mine, but they are fiends.. just like me. I don't subscribe to "medical marijuana" hypocrisy. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a drug addict, and I'm just lucky my drug of choice can be grown and harvested as is without complex chemistry and therefore easily allows me to indulge my habit 24/7 without spending a huge chunk of my monthly earnings.
What makes me upset is these guys spend 400 to 500 a month on their habit, which is easily 25-40% of their monthly earnings and as a result they don't have anything of any value. I offer all the time to help them build a simple bucket bubbler that will produce enough for one person for an entire 3 month growing cycle, but they are too lazy to even try. Citing BS excuses and then trying to convince me that out of friendship I should dedicate a portion of my closet space to a plant for them.
"Now wait a minute. You seriously want me to put in a plant just for you, and you take said plant at harvest. Who exactly pays me for the electricity, water, and equipment necessary to grow and support the plant?"
"Oh man, that can't be much. Maybe I can toss you a 50 or 100 out of the stuff. I want quarter and half pounds laying around like you got."
Ummm..no, don't think so. Go WORK for it for 3-4 months like I do. Test the water and adjust that crap day in and day out and watching the plants like a hawk for mites, light burning, nutrient overdose or underdose, ph problems, etc.. Go do that then come back and give me half your crop "just cause we been friends for so long."
I know I can't be the only guy with leeches constantly trying to attach to them. lol
