Anyone on here gone back to school as an adult?

So without getting into all the details of my downward spiral i have been contemplating taking the jump and going back to school to make a serious lifestyle change.
Have any of you gone back to school as adults? I have a real hesitation about it when i consider how long it will take and how old i will be by the time im done.
Id love to hear your thoughts and stories on it.

My friends and family have been pushing the subject for ten years so i guess its a positive that atleast now im thinking about it lol.
My psycotherapist opened my eyes when she made me do a bunch of iq and equivilency tests.

I went back to school at 29...there weren't many people my age, but I had a blast with the young people! I mean a lot just out of high school fresh off the farm ( in Saskatoon).

Im sure the experience would be super entertaining and i can think of a few good perks here and there but i feel alot older than my age.
Did u wind up working in a field that was only possible because of the schooling u went back to do?

I became an fan of books and knowledge early ive read a book a week since i was 14ish. I love learning however deciding what to take and if its worthwhile is my biggest problem.
You always hear people say do something your passionate about but then i can see how that could destroy what was once one of your passions.

Learning is never a bad thing. I went back to school in my early 30's to learn a trade.Most of my class was around the same age. I was never a fan of teachers so it took a little adjustment to get used to being 'in school'. I tried again a few years back and took an IT tech course at a community college...the older you get the harder it is. If you have the opportunity, go for it.

I actually combined two pieces of paper and got the top job.

Thats where im conflicted i did the trade thing for 20 years now and im not allowed to even work.
I will never be allowed to go back to working the physical heavy labour jobs of my past. So i guess its the transition from using my hands to make money to usin my mouth or my mind lol.

I stopped doing labour type jobs when I turned 35.....my parts couldn't take it any longer....
like someone said....never too late..bro..
I have been doing structural engineering now for over 20 years...and I am thinking....about switching to sound engineering
and recording..for a retirement job....

My joke has always been that I didn't know what I want to be when I grew up until I was 40. So then got a GED, took Economics & Political Science and got a management level job at one of the big banks. Now I run a newspaper.

The good thing I found at Uni, was because I was so much older than the other students, and had more than half a clue what life was about, along with a pretty good grasp about what was going on in the world, that many of my classes were a lot easier than they would have been at 18 or 20. Remember, that's who you'll be competing against - the other end of the bell curve will be occupied by a bunch of kids right out of high school.

Hey buddy, good luck with your choice and keep your spirits up regardless of your decision. The transition is part of the healing, school will be a little scary at first and then it will be very positive for your development and recovery. Please let us know what you are interested in and what avenue you will be pursuing. I am also at that cross road in my life and would like to see another patients path to career success and happiness.
