Anyone using viparspectra 900?

Hey recently purchased one of these as a cheap light till I can afford a higher end led. Just wondering if anyone is using one, when you put your seedlings under it, (under a few CFLs at the mo) and at what distance. Thanks in advance. Help from other 900w led users appreciated too!

GetFileAttachment_007.jpeg I use a viperspectra 900 for one of my veg tables. I don't put new seedlings under it as I prefer the T5s for them. When they get about 8 inches tall I put them under the viper at least 24" from the light. It works great, but you will get light burn if you get it too close. I have mine on a light mover which helps as they get bigger.

Thanks man, as I don't have access to a t5 when do you think I'd be ok to put them under, the CFL is ok but doesn't provide the coverage I need as I have to keep it low. Don't wanna risk burning though. The viparspectra done a decent job for you then? I plan on using the 900 all the way through in a 1x1m. Reckon that will be ok?

I have the Viperspectra 900w in a 3x3x6, it is almost too much light. Like someone already said keep that light up there don't want to burn or add unneeded stress on your ladies..... but the Viperspectra 900w is a damn good light I think for an economy level led system. I use it full circle but not for early seedlings

Thanks man! Good to know! What kinda size would you wait for them to be before putting them under and how high would uph start! Glad to find another user

I have a 450w, if im not mistaking the 900 os just 2 450s and i kept my flowering hybrid bagseed about 8" from the light. I kept it on veg for the first 4 weeks, then started flipping on the bloom switch with the veg switch for a few hours a day. Now their both on all the time, no burned buds or leaves and it has a shit load of trichomes20170517_222206.jpg(ignore the nute burned one on the right)

Your plants look great, but mine will burn that close. Mine doesn't have the switches. You get all the light all the time. Maybe that's the difference. Mine is probably an older model.

Viparspectra also has a newer 3 switch 600w system for 10 bucks less then the 900.... kind of hard not to buy the 900w with such little difference in price..

Par600 I believe

Thanks, i really like my vipars, the 300 is nice but lacks switches, and i did burn a couple plants with that one, the 450 has a nice spread if held far away. If i had the space i would get the 1200w with dimmables. Seems to be a solid budget brand

Awesome man. So when they're a bit bigger what height you recommend starting at? (with just veg switch on). And get them used to the bloom switch just before flowering then? Or just after a few week. Thanks in advance

I had success at that height throughout flower i used t5 for veg but when moved into flowering they've been around 8-10" the whole time, i could probably get a better spread but id rather run shelving and get more plants. Veg switch only for about the first 3-4 weeks then the bloom switch on a few hours a day until the trichs built up to protect the plant. Then i left both on, they've both been om for 3ish weeks now, no issues. Be careful tho the bloom has the uv lights on it so it may burn if left to close. For veg i would probably run 12-18" (for the 450) probably 16-24" for the 900

Think it might be an idea to start about 30" and work down? It's the 900 I have, I'm gonna put it in in a week or so when they're a bit bigger,

Also I've heard of people using the full spec all the way though? Would This not be a good idea then? Leave it on veg for a few week and let it get used to it? Sorry for all the questions mate new to growing in general and even more so regarding leds

I only advised this bc i had such a short spacing, farther away you should be able to leave them both on. And give it a go, you'll see if its close enough if the plants stretch for light, they get long and flimsy

I hate that the manufacturers insist on naming these panels as 600w and 900w. It's not a 600 watt panel, and it is in no way comparable to a 600 watt hps.

That being said, the Vipar lights are one of the better deals when it comes to cheap, chinese leds.

Good to know. That's why I got the 900, thought that might be a better replacement for 600 hps. It's actual draw is just over 400w

Then it will operate slightly better than a 400 watt HID. Watt for watt, cheap, chinese "blurple" panels are about as efficient as HID lights. It takes 600 watts of blurple light to replace a 600 watt HPS, where as with COBs or quantum boards, the number is closer to 450/500 watts.

I only have a 1x1m so I reckon I'll be alright
