Apartment Buildings Growing Tips?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience growing in an apartment building and can give me any solid advice.

I’d like to somehow disguise a 4x4 grow but it kinda seems impossible I can’t really think of anything you can disguise a 4x4 area as...

Use a wardrobe, cupboard, chest of drawers. I can't think of anything else that comes close to that size without looking suspicious.

here's what i did for a few years. had family, friends and maintenance guys in the apartment. no issues. fishtanks make noise, lol...

chopped wardrobe, with built in scrubber. re-enforced to support over 400 lbs of fishtank and water.

that’s a sweet set up, I been thinking about doing something with an armoire but I don’t really wanna downsize

yea, that would be going backwards for me also. i had 2 150 hps bare bulbs in that cabinet by the time is was said and done.

got rid of the hoods, hoses and fans and ran bare bulbs while scrogging. worked well...

my 8 totes in RDWC under 1400 watts nopw puts that cabinet to shame.

but it sure served a purpose at the time.

Hang your clothes in a armoire and use your closet....
Im in a 1/1 apartment ,have a big closet tho, room for a tent and clothes..

I built a cabinet and put it next to the window unit, nobody even has an idea that a Grow is in there.

If you don’t want to downsize then don’t get a apartment.
Life is full of challenges
You can put a lock on the room that has the grow
Or
Downsize to a appropriate size.
Learn how to grow in smaller space with max results
Life does not Allways grant what one wishes
Deal with it.
It’ll surprise you how much one can grow in a properly set up smaller grow space
It still surprises me.
Pack up your big room grow equipment for when you get outta the apartment.

What @Tejashidrow said, get a lock on the door if you can (the Grow room). Keep the old knob and put it back when you move out. Hell, change all the damn locks. Most leases will prohibit it, or stipulate that you must notify the landlord and/or leave the lock when you go. But fuck that, do it anyway, they aren't checking out your deadbolts for tampering and if it somehow happens that they find out, the worst is usually that you are out the cost of the lock. Me personally, if it was a choice between having a story ready to explain a new lock and possibly having to leave it or pay a fee for breaking a rule, vs. having a maintenance man or employee walk in on my grow, I know which one I'm going with. That said, heed the wise advice of others here when they say to keep it to scale. A room has a 15 Amp breaker. Don't fuck around with putting in a new one, work with what you have.
Carbon air filtration is an absolute must; I've seen someone here mention oversize filters eg 6 inch filter to 4 inch fan. I think that's an awesome idea.
Be nice to your neighbors and don't stick out.

Edit: forgot to add that if they find out you switched your locks, you can lay into them about not giving advance notice of entry (if that's what happened), which is the law where I am. Last time someone needed into my place I knew six days ahead of time.

Throw all your growing trash in a bag, walk a few streets over late at night and toss it into someone's trash or strip mall dumpster, etc.

Apply caryophyllene oxide to your neighbor's doors if you live in a building.

I know i am a bit late but this is what i'm doing right now. I put a lock on my bedroom door and if i get any questions i will probably just say that it is for my guns. We see a bit of light through the door gaps and the noise is not really obvious.

To me the most difficult part of hiding an indoor grow under plain sight is hiding the fan noise.

For sure. AC Infinity can help you there.

I have a vivosun 4" fan. The problem is the sound of the air rushing out of the vent and not really the fan noise. But since i am venting under the bath and that there is a basement under, you can confuse this vent sound with the bathroom fan

I'm running a little stealth grow in my garage. It's a 2 x 3 x 6 old kitchen cupboard with an ebb and flow system. I'm pulling air in from outside the building with a 4" fan. In front of that fan I have a computer cooling radiator and another 4" fan on the other side of the radiator (one fan pushes through the rad, the other pulls through the rad). The radiator's plumbed to a cooler box water reservoir and the reservoir's chilled by an aquarium chiller and that runs through an auto temp switch. At the top of the cupboard, I have a 4" extractor fan, venting through a charcoal filter into my garage with no discernable smell. I cut an opening in one side of the cupboard and built a box off the side and in the box is a humidifer and a dehumidifier both hooked up to an auto switch. 8" oscillating fan and grow lights at the top. Seems to be working ok so far.

Just started week 3 of flower.

Buy a speed controller. Can throttle it down some. Also wrap vent with insulation/duct sleeve. This will quiet it down considerably. Can also use 6" ducting with a reducer to the 4" fan. Also kills that noise, pretty well.
