Apartment NOISE HELP!!

So I may have dug myself in a deep whole here and now I'm in desperate need of help!

I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment and signed a year lease specifically to grow 20-30 plants in one of the rooms. I have a 8x4 grow tent, 2 1000w lights non digital ballasts, and two 4 inch fans.

Unfortunately the walls of my apartment aren't well insulated because I can faintly hear my neighbor in the room next to me snoring at night. The last thing I want to do is pay $2,500 to break my lease so I'm trying to find ways to neutralize the sound as much as possible so I don't have complaining neighbors.

So my question is what are some techniques to eliminate as much sound as possible? I've seen the sleeping bag trick but im unsure how well that works and also is there any sort of sound resistance material I can apply to my walls?

what is so loud ? the fans ? there not expose to be loud. do they vibrate or what . I would just leave the tv on 24 7 and it would hide the noise some. or if your ballasts are buzzing ? you could go to a guitar store . or music instrument store Im sure they will sell some sheets of that fome rubber they use in recording studios double side tape it up onto the walls.

Mr Snores is on my bedroom side, it's the other neighbors who worry me with all the sound going on. 4 inch inline fan

That's what I was thinking, I was unsure how well it reduced the sound. I just want to make sure the sound of the ballasts, fans, ect is reduced as much as possible so no one gets suspicious.

no one cares,noise is nothing to worry about. you could double a/c's and people would just think your a polar bear.

Noise baffling foam and some contact cement.
I suggest attaching the foam to a 1/4" thick board so you don't glue right to wall.
each sheat of wood with foam will stay up with 6 screws so you will only have some holes to fill then you move out.
If you glue foam to the wall you will kick yourself when time comes to move.

There's a lot of different types of applications for your walls, acoustic tiles, double Sheetrock, etc. but most all of that stuff is pretty expensive. You might be able to find some acoustic tiles used, the thicker the better, the thin stuff doesn't do much. Most of the other tricks you hear about dont really work. I was involved in setting up home theater rooms. It will take a lot of work and money. Might want to just try to mask it.

NO, a white noise machine is NOT recommended in place of sound deadening material, in fact, a white noise machine is intended to help you get to sleep, NOT to deaden fan noise loud enough to bother neighbors.

...as for sound deadening material why not use that 2 inch thick pink styro-foam like shit at Lowes and Home Dumpster? ...they sell it in 4 x 8 sheets and they have it in different thickness's so you'll need to use YOUR imagination!

...and of all the rest that's been said i'd have to say the advice from silasraven is on the money, i doubt your neighbors will notice any noise coming from your apartment and regular noise like fans that never goes away actually BECOMES a white noise machine, as it were.

...some of this shit you should be able to figure out on your own bro, it ain't rocket science and ANY question you can think to ask has already BEEN asked, MANY times so if you get proactive when you want to know something you get way more reliable and complete information than you will just asking questions every time something comes up.

used Ceiling tiles is a good idea,
they might be hard to find check for commercial construction company dumpsters in your area.

...this is actually great advice and if there is a builders salvage yard in your area you can find them for very small money, ...although if they do the job then even full retail only hurts when you throw down, after that the peace of mind is priceless.

i would invest in a larger fan with a speed control and run it at the lowest setting its usually quieter than running a small fan full blast / jet motor setting >.< lol

Blast your stereo 24/7 to cover the noise of the fan.

create a muffler or a wooden box with styrofoam and expanding foam in work a treat i use it myself

get those big sheets of Styrofoam

There is a very simple fix to the problem... You are using a 4inch fan... maybe pushing/pulling 150cfm? Ok, buy a 750+cfm fan, 8 or 10 inches.... buy a fan speed controller... try to get all of your aircool circuit setup with 8 or 10 inch ducting... turn your 8 or 10 in fan down to 15-20% with the speed adjustor...

150 cfm of air coming out of a 4in hole is LOUD... 150 cfm coming out of a 10 in hole is quiet.
