De works. Citric acid, neem, heck even a mix of isopropyl alcohol water and soap will kill em good. You can wash them off the plants with a good spray of water and then dust de (get a powder sprayer) They'll come back it's not a one and done deal so keep applying until you can no longer see any around. I wouldnt put bugs on an outdoor crop unless it's contained in a greenhouse ... They'll be gone within hours/a day.

Start with the less invasive treatment and get progressively more aggressive.
Light defol and hand remove
Wash with light dawn solution
Neem/garden soap/Citrus acid
Chemical pesticides
Preditors are best used as a preventive practice. Hard to find them in stores/take time to ship and don't store at home well, lacewings come as eggs and take time to hatch. If they don't have a sufficient food source they will leave.
