dude named bret bogue is the man behind apothecary..

a year or two ago they did release a bunch of stuff under greenhouse, namely the bubba kush and a few others i don't recall..
the dude brett i think lays claims to coming up with the grape ape strain as well..
and btw, they listed the genetics for bubba kush as bubba gum x i think it was og kush, so i'd not really be buying anything they're selling tbh..

Definitely some Dutch folk trying to cash in on American strain names. That said, there are some good cuttings that go around BC of their gear. The Kaia and Kings Kush in particular. I don't think their gear is complete shit. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to buy it though either given what they're doing with the names and the fact that I don't like indica dom Kushes much.

i'm not one to spread unfounded rumors, ok, ok, so maybe i am.. :D, anyhoo's, google the name brett bogue and see some of the nasty things people have to say about him.
one story was he's a c.i. for the l.a. d.a, i know that's a lot of initials and all, but either way, don't look good for him imo..

i am kind of remembering a bit of the hubaloo here on riu when this all went down, he even has an riu account, thank you google for that one.. i kind of remember when he came on to defend himself, but i don't really remember it ending well for him..

and og, i'm fairly sure brett is an american, he owned or was part owner of some dispensary in cali from what i remember..

Who knows the real deal but I get a feeling he is a real bad egg. There are so many other places out there to attain nice genetics. Why support a prick?

Racerboy.....are you running anything from Gage or CFSB right now? I forgot what you chose. :dunce:

I've ran the Kaia to good success. She's one of my favorites ever. GHS Kaia too. So whatever that's worth.

I got over 300 seeds on deck right now so I don't think il be ordering anything for quite some time BUT there are definitely a few GGG strains I would come off my wallet for. OB ripper being one. That ever coming back anywhere?

i'm pretty sure that the kaia is one of the ones from apothecary hgk.. it was kinda odd imo how they put it out, greenhouse that is, and didn't really relabel it under apothecary in any way as far as i know of.

as for the ob ripper, have you checked out the bank of gage yet?? it seems like the best place to find most things gage, being it's their bank and all, lol..

I'll stick to facts.

Brett Bogue is American, he's the owner of Apothecary se-eds.

Bogue has a lot of experience growing, he was (and maybe still is) one of the instructors at "Oaksterdam". He has a personal history of cancer. IIRC it was some sort of rare skin cancer requiring radiation therapy; I don't know what kind.

Bogue has claimed to have personally bred strains Grape Ape, Kaia Kush, Bubba Kush, Sour Grapes, Old School Jams, Pez, and the Goo. "Some" have disputed this claim, saying that Bubba Kush, Grape Ape, Sour Grapes, etc, are heirloom strains that predate Bogue or have other clear pedigrees having nothing to do with him.

A few years back (I think it was 2006) Bogue was caught red handed with a large number of plants on his property. Eventually he was convicted of maintaining a dwelling for manufacture and storage of marj-juana, and he actually spent six months in prison for it starting in 2011.

The guy is married, and has at least one kid. He won a cannabis cup for his strain "Kaia kush" in 2007 and then promptly sold the genetics to Greenhouse se-eds. He re-established Apothecary ceeds last year after getting out of jail last year.

So these are facts.

The allegation is that in between his arrest and jail time Bogue served as confidential informant for the cops in trying to bust other growers. Obviously, I don't know the truth of that, but I will say given his personal situation at the time (married with kid) the gravity of the charges (he was caught red handed with a huge number of plants potentially facing a LONG sentence), the delay between arrest and conviction, and the minimal charges he was actually convicted of (not even possession!); the allegation seems pretty plausible to me. And of course there are individuals making more detailed allegations, which you can read if you Google this issue.

IMO, his personal ethics should be considered independent of the quality of his genetics. IE he could be a snitch with great genetics or a stand-up guy with lousy ones (or other combinations!).

Personally, I don't have any experience with his genetics, and don't intend to acquire any.

GHS uses cup wins as its #1 marketing strategy, and is cash-rich.

They wanted another cup-winning strain, and Bogue (who probably needed cash; see timeline above) sold them one.

Makes sense to me.
