Aquaponics Has Anyone Tried It?

The aquaponics link above is confusing me. How could an aquaponic system grow such a big plant with only a few guppies? I think it is BS because I personally have achieved what the post is going for and it doesn't look realistic to me. The number of fish, the set up looks strange, the growth of the plant, and it being his first attempt. If it's valid I have many questions to ask him haha.

U have ran an aquaponic sistem before?

Yes, I used Koi and grew tomatoes with herbs. It was also indoors under a 400W light because in Flagstaff AZ there isn't much of a growing season.
