Aquatic planted fish tank?

Yea I find it very possible to grow off of the top of a fishtank, e.g. place something on top the tank, let the roots hang down into the water with the airstone running on the roots. Ive read that this isnt the preferred method of hydroponics where as in a drip system you could place a tray on top and grow with rockwool and hydroton by placing a water pump in the tank and using the water to feed and letting gravity take care of the drainage. The only issue I think you will run into is the ph. Im not sure what the ph should be for fish, im sure it varies from fish to fish, if you find a good strain of fish that like to live between 5.6 and 6.2 ph levels that would be great for a rockwool drip system. And with the fish living underneath im sure plenty of nutrients are produces in the tank as it is for a fish tank is like a mini man made ecosystem, this might even eliminate the need to check the nutes?. I would not add any nutes to the tank with the fish, im sure it will kill them.

It can be done... but it requires research... You are cultivating a bacteria that transforms fish shit into plant food... Ph should be 6.5 or higher to suit the bacteria...

Aquaponics is very different than hydro....
