What heatsink do you recommend? The Alpine is cheap for sure, but it is not really reliable. It only features fluid bearing and will most likely be the first part of a Bridgelux/Cree-Meanwell-Arctic combo to fail. Chances are quite high you will encounter an Arctic that has a rotational imbalance straight out of the box. I agree it has a very good form factor though. I still wouldn't ever put more than 25W of heat on it.
Quick froogling tells me they are still sold under 7€ in europe.
Is that the 11 plus or a different one? Right now the 11 plus all seem to be out of stockMy AA11s have been going strong for 6 months and don't even get warm with 12v to the fans and 50w output. For $9 and free shipping, they are a great option.
I have never had a computer fan fail in over 15 years....sure I have replaced them, but outright failure? ..PC fan's are probably last on that list....The Alpine is cheap for sure, but it is not really reliable. Plus, I edited it. This was 6 months ago from newegg I think. Is that the 11 plus or a different one? Right now the 11 plus all seem to be out of stock
Well, I now use (10) Arctic, one of which has failed but is still grilled by the V29 at 1050mA underneath. The others are kept cool by 5V, at differing RPM and noise levels though. I am blowing on it with the circulation fan, which puts the baseplate at roughly 40-70°. No visible light degration so far, but everything is illuminated very well anyways. I am planning to fix it but I am lazy these days and somewhat curious if the egg will fry. I might add that running the Vero at 500mA keeps the heatsink very cool without the fan(s).What heatsink do you recommend?
