As i have been reading through the threads i have noticed that aero growers are supplementing with extra lights. Is this really needed? i recently purchased an aero 6 elite for my first grow. planned on only starting with 2 snow white fem seeds. looking at the fox farm trio for nutes. Anyway, this grow is for personal use and i wanted to know are the extra lights used to accelerate the growing process or are they really needed for growing. Any help in this matter would be great. Thanks.

It really depends but overall yes. You might be able to get away with it at first but you are going to need at least an additional 2 cfls with it needing more the larger your plants get. I've got 4 extra on mine and they are only about 10 days old.

Thanks for the replies. I've spent hours on this forum just perusing through all of the information. I'm not sure if I'm more confused than before or not. :weed:

One way to put it is, there is no practical minimum or maximum of light to put on your plants. Growth depends on so many factors, but the one you have total control over is light. The rule should be buy as much light as 1) that you can afford 2) that you can keep cool.

more light = more bud.

You can screw up nutes, watering, temperature, etc. But the one thing you can count on is more light.

I use 2 additional 42 watt cfl lights on the side. I also use a 200 watt cfl overhead after about 3 weeks. I remove the hood and use the 200 watt cfl.

Take a look at my pics. I vegged originally with cfl 200 w then added 70w hps ,then added 70 w MH eventually leading to a 4oo w MH and found a 250w HPS streetlight and added that too. Everything helped but might stress a plant a little when you move them constantly of turn certain ones off. I might be wrong but my plants have benefited with additional lights.
