I have no idea. I went to an arts school where 65-75% of the students were hipsters, and the rest some kind of gothic subculture, punk, emo, j-fashion, rockabilly etc. Normality for me. I don't know if they were ever considered cool kids by others because my school was for both the stars and the misfits, or a juxtaposition of both. It was cool not to fit, but uncool to be cool... Err. Basically of you pull of whatever you are well and hold your own, you earn your respect.

I find some hipster girls cute, but those who just try and adopt the style look stupid. If it's clear that I who you are and you're not going to change, it shows and looks good, even if it's not to someone else's taste... Which is what I just tried to explain in the last paragraph I think..
