theyre more than nesisary there vital.,.,.,there the solar panels of the plant.,.,they store energy in and get fed by the leaves

Dont pick the leaves if they have buds unless its like a week before harvest and thats just to get the light down to the lowers so there not albino lol

That is the formula for photosynthesis.
The plants need water (6H2O), carbon dioxide (6CO2) and light energy to create glucose (C6H12O6) and oxygen (6O2)
The leaves collect the suns rays and turn that into glucose with the help of water and CO2
The glucose is what feeds the plant so as said before me, the leaves are vital

those leaves look fine. you could trip of damaged tips of the leaves.
