Are Skunk strains indica or sativa?

So I have always thought Skunk strains were indica dominant, because of the smell and taste, but someone recently told me that all Skunk strains are sativa dominant? Anyone care to clear this up for me?

Thanks

I dont know about ALL skunk strains since there are tons of them. But generally skunk is a hybrid around 60/40 sativa. But there are alot of variations so take it with a grain of salt.

skunk #1 it 75% sativa and 25% afghani. even though it's genetically more sativa than indica, i consider it more indica than sativa because it's so couchlocking. it has no motivation or psychoactivity in the buzz, just euphoria and a stone that gets worse & worse the more you smoke it until that's about all you get out of it.

a lot of well known strains are really just different phenos of skunk #1
cheese
lemon skunk
roadkill (aka brick wall)
&
a couple others i've forgotten the names of

ironically, skunk #1 isn't as stinky as it sounds, at least not the Sk#1 buds i was getting for a month or two. they practically smelled like cardboard, but it could be that the grower was using an ionizer which can turn flavor down according to cervantes i believe, or maybe it was high times.

i could have sworn reading that roadkill & brick wall were just PHENOS of skunk #1, but you really can't trust ANYTHING you read online eg.the debate between two competing lineages for C99
- one source claimed C99 is a cross with ice princess and something else
- another claims it's a jack herer cross

i've seen MANY lineages for strains online that have have little or nothing to do with reality.

i'm glad to see with skunk #1 at least that my 25% afghani quote is correct even if i didn't remember the EXACT (afghani x acapulco gold) x columbian gold lineage. with gold making up half the genes and being the mother, you'd expect skunk #1 to have at least a little psychoactivity i used to have the lineages for skunk #1, haze, super silver haze & jack herer memorized.

Pure Skunk is mostly sativa in growth and high, it has an up high in your head with little body stone. If you get the old real stuff it stinks real bad. The newer stuff seems more fruity and sweet.

while we're on the subject ...one of the tastiest non-skunk tasting skunks was Flying Dutchman's Skunk Classic. The flavor was amazing and the high just the same.
I think FD is a great place to start if your looking for good Skunk genetics. Seems like they've banked on alot of their variations of Skunk #1

i REALLY liked the lemon skunk freebie i tested last year compared to skunk #1. it tasted nicer for sure and didn't seem to be as stoney either. i don't remember whose version it was though. all i know is i was all set to NOT like it and was pleasantly surprised.

Possibly but I know there's a breeder whose lemon skunk is just a skunk pheno. I can't think of who though.
