That is because the government has to confiscate the wealth they dole out to those people.
In 2014 I had to pay the government over 13,000 in taxes for the privilege of being successful. Yes, I feel the government is stealing from me. The worse part is they would have had to steal double that to actually pay the bills they are incurring.
I understand the depth of your narcissism and your complete lack of empathy for anyone you deem your enemy but the reason things are so shitty is the government keeps taking more and more from the producers and giving it to the non-producers which results in negative economic growth. It is not making things better for anyone.

I am not excited that a loss taken as a result of a short sale is considered income by the IRS in addition to them taking a large cut off of long term capital gains such as the sale of a company.
However, in a perfect world I think a flat sales tax would be the ultimately fair way to collect taxes. That gives people the most privacy and flexibility financially.

The more times something is repeated the more credibility it has for many people. Seeding doubt has become big business for lobbyists.
