Hello all :)

I recently posted a thread * What lights to use for propagation* in anouther part of the forum and I get o good idea of the lights that I need and how to go about growing the seedlings :)... So I went out and bought the best I could find... I ggot... 2* 14w T4 6400k lights, I will be using the in a small box to grow seedlings for 2 - 3 weeks ... Do you think this is okay :)... Ill be moving them up to the HID after this stage :)

Thanks :)

when you say t4 are they linier or compact flourescents. they make whats called power twists(t2, ts are just diameter size) or cfl they run in low wattages like that but what you said should work fine for growing sedling for a couple weeks till you get the real lights, i would go get 2 more and after a week add them.

yeah they should be fine, may be some slow growth since you only have 28 watts. around 5000 lumens. if you can try and add a few CFLs in there. you would be surprised what just 2 or 3 18watters can do.

Make sure to introduce light progressively as hitting them with a high powered HID after a small amount of CFL's can easily hurt the gals.

doesnt matter they will double size in flower so just keep that in mind, I like to LST and make bushs. hell like any plant thats bushy. more than i like donkey dicks. they get old plus you got to chop em up and there is a big ol stem waiting in ther for ya, so you can take that off the weight... but dont get me wrong i like a big bud like the next guy but i like a frosty bud better.

James: I've been working with T-5's exclusively from seed propagation to harvest for over a year and I've had very good luck. I use 5,000K's from sprouting to flowering on a progressive light schedule that starts with 20 hours on and 4 off and reduces by one hour per week. When I see preflowering, usually at about 14 to 13 hours of light I change aver to 2,700K's and a flowering nutes formula until harvest. Some other growers I know use 6,000K and 6,500K's for anywhere from 24 hours on to the customary 16, and then they switch to MH and HPS for flowering, but I can't honestly say that their meds are any better than mine. I think this only proves that there's more than one way to skin a cat.
I'm a small scale legally approved personal medical grower with a screwed up body and I grow six plants or less, so I must absorb all my costs and I'm trying to do it as inexpensively as possible. If you do go with T-5's just make sure you buy a fixture that is big enough to completely cover your grow and you should be fine. T-5's don't project light down like HID.
I got most of my helpful ideas from my local hydro store, Discount Hydroponics, at Riverside, California. If your local source wants your business, I would suggest you work with your local hydro store because thay have a vested interest in your success. I hope this helps. HSA
