Are they female?

This is my first grow and i am using aerogardens as a base. I have a cabinet in the making for light sealing and bigger better grow space, it's just been difficult to get everything together and have a working car at the same time...

I have 2 plants a goin. 1 has been 12/12 for 6 days, the other i have on a 16/8 because i'm using an aerogarden and it's leaking light onto my other garden so i'm sacrificing my 2nd garden a little to protect my primary garden.

Both of the plants have started showing what i'm pretty sure to be preflowers but i'd like some second opinions.

Below are pictures of the 12/12 under a 150w HPS (hence the yellow/orangish glow).





one of the pictures of the 12/12 is of one branch and 2 are of another. One of the branches has the claw like preflowers, but the other doesn't. And unfortunetly, because i couldn't get my cabinet built in time, i'm really expecting a hermie anyways unless i'm making too big a deal about the light pollution.

I Really think my plant that is in 16/8 is female. Those long canoe like preflowers are pretty...canoe like. But my flowering one is scaring me...

There are definetly no signs of hairs coming out of any preflowers.

cant tell. theyll probably be male due to you cutting the living shit out of them. you want em to grow fast, leave the scissors in the drawer from now on. terrible.

i was doing this with my roommate, but our methods of taking care of the plants differed. he wanted to constantly chop the plants up to let in light to other branches, and insisted that because hes grown before and i haven't that he knows best. They are recovering, but my roommate chopped off branches from both plants, those won't... We ended up fighting over it and now hes banned from touching my plants and i had to take the cost of the project on entirely, woot.

my cabinet hasn't been able to be build for similiar reasons.

its ashame. all of that hps light just hauling ass right through the plant, straight to the floor. doesnt seem your buddy knew what he was doing either. actually, maybe i dont know what im doing...good luck

You did the right thing. Tell your roommate that the leaves are the power source to the plant. When you cut fan leaves off you are shutting down the plants power source.

I would hide the plants and tell him that they died and not let him in on my grow anymore.

I tried to tell him leaves are important, kinda like lungs to humans, but like i said, he had the exp and i had nothing.

I reshaped the plants after i banned him from it, and the one under my HPS is starting to fill out a little

What an idiot he was, maybe we should castrate him, and see how he likes it.

lol, i formally applogized to my plants after he chopped off branches. Thats when i flipped out. The main purpose of my first grow is to get a female so i can clone. But i sorta need branches to be able to clip off once i figure it's a female. I took a clone of the flowering one a while ago and it's starting to take off. But it's all for not if this thing turns male...
