Are voltage regulators necessary??

i've had this problem when using a bulb that wasn't designed for an electronic ballast when i used it in my e ballast.. it worked for a few, two or so weeks'ish, then it blew the bulb out.. i think it was an eye hortilux, and after changing bulbs for one designed for use in the e ballast, i think i went with digilix, i never had the issue again.

^ ..this goes back to one of your earliest threads, when I first saw your bulbs, I wondered if because you're not in the states, maybe it's different in other parts of the world (eg. 220v etc.), but I didn't think they were the right bulbs? I could well be wrong but I remember that from your earlier thread, just trying to help

Edit: Also whereas you said your halide was flickering Etc., have you tried the basic Vivosun or iPower generic bulb? You could probably get one at a hardware store, might work best with that ballast

Iv put the hps bulb that I ran for two weeks back in after the other exploded, and nothing
i thought you said the hps was still running fine. now i understand.

you fried the ballast. can you take off the cover? there should be a small fuse in there somewhere. hopefully.

They are offering to swap the whole setup for a new one, they will take the cool tube and quantum bal

I cannot open it up as it's under warranty and they said they will replace it no problem

were you running this thru a timer? or right into the wall?

i would also pick up a heavy duty mechanical timer not a electronic one. i like the brand Intermatic.

I think I found the problem.. The store was honest and told me they don't know why but they got a bad batch of ballasts.. They going to exchange or refund. . Anyone know backline 1000w ballast?

get a refund and buy an old school magnetic 240V hps/mh ballast instead.

I just got given this old 400w magnetic ballast at work, it seposedly works ill have to test it cause I see a crack on the plastic, looking at it now I doubt it'll work, are these components replaceable see pic

Problem with that is they make noise, I gotta sleep next to the grow lol, and I think you need a different one for each type of globe, and I'm pretty sure it won't have a 3year warranty

in your other post, you said that green one is a quantum? i've never seen a quantum that looks like that.

it kinda looks like a galaxy but the galaxy has 4 leds above the knob to tell you waht setting it's on. and the heat sinks are different too

i think that is a chinese knock off of a galaxy.

That's basically what they just told me, they are very honest people in fact, their words were "the quantum brand is a crossover from the original brand" *yes green one is quantum

sorry dude but quantum is owned by hydrofarm now. go on their website and look for the quantum ballast. it looks nothing like that.

that's a chinese knockoff that probably cost about $20 to manufacture. the backline wont' be any better.

get a refund and spend some money on a quality ballast. and find a different grow shop. good luck.

Do you know lumii magnetic ballasts? Maybe I should change from 1x1000w digital to 2x600w magnetic
